Looking at RealOEM it lists 15W-50 Advantec BMW oil

In this listing for that product is states it is semi synth

My bike needs oil change in 150 miles so will be using 15w-50 semi synth. A bit cheaper. I started my replies to this thread thinking I would help others, but it has ended up with me learning something, so thanks to pitrat101 and others who contributed

It's been an education! I've gone 15w50 semi synth Castrol. I'm happy with my choice and can see why others use different. Poll was a good idea and reinforced my choice. I think if I had seen a thread like this in the search I certainly would not have asked the question!

Last week I emailed BMW c/m services in UK to ask. Answer came back - 15W-50 BMW Advantec Pro (API SJ / JASO MA2) which is semi-synthetic. Confirms what already posted by others
