Serviced the bike a few hundred miles ago, plenty of shiny new oil in the bike.

Riding home from work on Friday and the oil can/red triangle were coming on at tickover and going out as soon as revs increased.

Dumped the bike in the garage and decided to investigate tonight;

Cold engine and all is good. As it warmed up the above happened. As it got good and hot it took 2000 revs(ish) to go out.
Then, on the way back home and for no apparent reason all is good again. Took it for a good thrash again then back into town to get hot again and nothing, nada :confused:

I'm not overly worried, but, thought I'd ask in case there was a slim chance somebody else had experienced similar - my money is on the pressure gauge going awol :nenau

Don't know where the pressure switch is on these bikes, but could be some air in the circuit and may need bled. Only a thought.........

can only be four things really in order of ease and cheapness.

Oil pressure sensor
Oil pressure regulator
Oil pump
Shagged bearings, very very unlikely to be this as I think you would be hearing duff bearings.

It could also be crappy thin oil but we will leave that one alone.

Had the same in 2005 on my (then) almost new R1200GS whilst caught up in slow town traffic in Alton. Engine was knocking slightly more than normal, oil warning light flickering at idle, cleared at revs.

Got into clear roads and headed to the nearby dealers (SPC Alton) by which time it had cooled and quietened. Got told it might be the oil pressure switch, fitted under the LH pot on the side of the crankcase.

Changed the oil from the originally recommended 10W40 to 20W50 Fully synth and it never happened again.

Not had the same problem on my newer 2008 GSA.

if he serviced it was the oil filter changed, if so could be duff or have some FOD in it

Thanks for all the replies :)

300 miles on and it's not done it again so I'm gonna do that 'Ostriche' thang for now and, if it happens again, replace the pressure switch and see what happens.
