Oil warning message

As title suggests I currently have an oil warning flashing up on the display panel, I am guessing the oil change has time expired as not yet due a mileage service. The question being is there some manual multiple key turn, button pushing, tummy rubbing drill, to turn it off ? or am I off to the dealers ?

I may be well off the mark, but on the 11xxs, the oil pressure sensor causes that to happen when it gets wet......after 20 miles or so, it dries out and the oil warning light stops mucking about.

The 1200 doesn't need any oil to run, it can do just as well on bullshit

Thanks , there is plenty of oil showing in the sight glass, I think it is a service warning rather than a real lubrication problem

Yep, sounds to me like it's the Oil Pressure Sensor that's faulty.
The same thing happened to my mates GSA recently.

Needed a new Sensor (warranty job).

one is pressure, the other is level.

If I remember correctly, the variable servicing regime wasn't introduced on the GS until the 2012 model year. Certainly, my previous '04, '07 & '09 bikes were on the standard 6K miles + annual service schedule.

That suggests that it's an oil-pressure issue. Either the sender has failed, the pressure-relief valve is stuck open or the big ends are knackered. Assuming that there's not a heavy knocking from the bottom end of the engine, it's reasonably safe to assume that it's not big end failure. That leaves us with low oil level which you've already discounted and a failed oil pressure sender.

Definately no service indicator on the 06 GSA so it's either low level or pressure. the manual should tell you
