I suspect he may have been using Caps Lock to make a point, ie. he's a pretty unhappy punter at having the well documented EWS failure occur whilst he was on holiday.
Can't say I blame him really.

I am very sorry to hear of your problems and the way BMW handled it but I have RAC on the car, a spare fuel pump controller and Ring Antenna on the GS. Both under £100 for me, worth it.

I've just had my first experience of BMW Assist - for the same problem - EWS.

What has left a very bitter taste in my mouth is the bike is 12 weeks old, a known problem, and having carted it off to the dealers they wouldn't retun it because I lived less than 30 miles from the dealers!!!

The argument with BuMW Customer Services was extraordinary!

Known fault, new bike - who gives a toss whether I was 30 miles or 300 miles from the dealer - it's not the point!:spitfire

I had that same 30 miles bollox when I had a problem last year.

And it was only that close because I tried to be reasonable and let them take it to the nearest dealer rather than where I normally had it worked on!! :spitfire

Mind you, after a lot of expensive phone rants (I was working abroad while they were sorting it out) they did eventually deliver it back FOC. Took abbout 6 calls and demands to speak to the manager though :spitfire

Adds insult to injury though doesn't it? :blast

I have BMW extended warranty, carole nash recovery, credit card holiday insurance and proper motorcycle all year round travel insurance.

Who do I call first ?:nenau

Fore-warned is fore-armed! Like you, if I'd known I would have sent it to my normal dealer 75 miles away rather than the nearer one. The problem was the terms of contract between BuMW and Mondial.

BuMW did eventually come good and it was delivered back promptly at no cost.

However, it has really dented my confidence and opinion of BuMW and how they deal with their customers.

we and this site are a bunch of toothless tossers. Its all known, has been for years, EWS and the fuel pump relay and the sidestand switch. All faults that will stop you in your tracks..... wheres the approach to BMW en mass to complain.

we will be reading the same crap in a years time... when will this site get its act together and make a communial complaint?????????????

EWS

Yup, same thing happened to me a fortnight ago on a brand new 08 GS that I had covered 4k miles on. Thank god it was sunny and in Nottingham. The recovery man was delayed, because.......... he was busy recovering another EWS immobilised GS. He had lost count of the number he has recovered in the last month alone. Some poor bugger was stranded in the middle of Morocco with the same problem I posted my tale of woe up!

There is no way I would trust one of these bikes for a long haul. The Honda Varadero is looking more and more attractive!

Cheers Spagforth:nenau:nenau
