Only new Altbergs from now on

Also had a pair of clubman classics for almost 15 years with only one refurb. They're not totally waterproof now, but when I'm going out on the bike at this time of year, despite several newer boots I still go for those. I also have a pair of bandogs, but they don't get used much, not that there's owt wrong with them (though at 6 years old they leaked for the first time - well my sock was damp - but that was after 150 miles in torrential rain), though more of a faff to put on and lace up.

Got a pair of size 11 HG goretex BMW Santiago clone boots that are almost never used, might as well try and sell them when spring comes.

Got home tonight, refurbished Altbergs on the mat.

I thought they had sent me a new pair when I looked - only some recognisable scuffing on one toe left to tell me they really were my boots. My expectations have been exceeded dramatically, and the care that has gone into teh rework does in deed suggest that it cannot be a profitable activity!

Shame to loose such a service, but when the refurb boots finally die, I'll be back to Altberg for another pair.

I'm with Hubs.:D

Glad they are still providing this service................ When there was doubt about them continuing this service, I emailed them with my support, referencing this thread, they replied, thanking me.

I am sure that an email from a very satisfied customer will help maintain Altberg's view that this is an activity worth continuing

Bugger, I have a pair of 1 year old Alt-Bergs I have since I was in the Army and have been refurbed in the past. They are more comfy than my slippers, it's a sad turn of events.

Read the thread....................................... It appears that the normal ( ie. excellent ) Altberg service is still available

ALT-BERG REFURBISHMENT SERVICE: Please note this service has been discontinued 07/12/2011

Are they only doing it for people in the know?

What a shame .. I have just updated another thread about refurbished boots from Altberg .. the service was excellent and I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone here !

We have appreciated the service given, but are more than happy to buy new boots. They, Alt-Berg, are fantastic. 12 years, one refurbishment, 170,000 miles, in all conditions who could ever complain.
