Oops-bought an old shitter- collective thoughts required please .

As I thought I’d explained above, the Hagon is a shorter shock so the bike is lowered and I want it back up to normal height to give me more leg room.
Unless I'm misunderstanding something, changing the spring damper unit isn't going to alter the distance between seat and pegs (i.e. legroom).

If you want more legroom you need to either raise the seat or lower the pegs, or both.

Yes, ta we discussed that above . That’s why I’ve ordered a taller seat to gain leg room

Meanwhile, Lucas (Denz0) called me . I’m going to drop the OE shock in tomorrow on my way past .
Top bloke .

You might be able to offload your low seat (and shock) since there is a demand for them that’s no longer being met. This guy on FB is looking for one and been told to expect it to cost £450 or more.

................................Which would cover the cost of a perfect brand spanking new seat of the correct height if you can find one and perhaps even covering the cost of rear shock overhaul too ?.

Yep - he’s a top bod is Denzo. I’ve had several bits done by him, including replacing the terrible OEM suspenders on the Turban.

Try this link, Martin. According to this site, I can order one so click on the cart logo and see if you can order it directly. This link takes you directly to the page I took a screenshot of yesterday. The red/grey and low seats show as discontinued but the top one looks like what you’re after.

Here you go:
Just got email, back from bike-parts-bmw-co.uk and the seat is out of stock and discontinued . So plan b which is follow up a few Facebook leads.
Meanwhile I dropped the OE shock off with Denz0 for him to rebuild.
Top bloke.

Somebody on Facebook recommended these people

Seems dodgy as the guy replied ‘yessir’ which is exactly what another company supposedly in Scotland replied . Seems dodgy to me

Plus I’m not sure the two piece seat pictured will fit without extra hardware ?

Got sent this from another site . Will it fit straight on ?

The main thing is whatever you do/ get needs to be compatible with the fixings on an ADV... I can't remember what they look like but the standard GS seats are the stepped fittings for the front and the rear seat fits into the front and locks down by the lock next to the tool box... That's why a recovering of standard works great as the base is the fixing point...

No, it wont. I think there will be info on what you need if you do a search for seat swap but all the locking and luggage stuff at the back end needs to be changed as well. Easiest way to see it is to look at the Realoem.com site for the GS and GSA versions

Martin: good decision to use Lucasz (Denzo) for the refurb of the rear shock - he did mine (‘03 1150 GS on 100k miles) and it was v much improved!

I’ve contacted 3 different’ parts places via Facebook and they all claim to have seats available and all seem to be of Asian persuasion using yessir and other slightly odd language .
A couple of people on an 1150 Facebook group said they got seats from them but it all looks a bit like a scam to me .

It probably is.

Have you looked on Graigslist in US of A. Might be worth having ganders and have it shipped to the hotel next time you over there.

Here is a jumble of 1150 parts for sale. On top of the rack is a bench seat. Not sure if it is for the 1150 Adventure though. Located in San Diego area (Corona)

Don't count on a positive outcome here but...... I had a spare grey and blue standard height GSA seat which ended up getting left in the garage loft at my parents house when they moved 5 years ago. I'll swing by over the weekend and ask the people who live there now if it's still there.

They are one of the most uncomfortable bike seats ever designed though.... I found Sargent the best for my arse but they do tend to be slightly lower. The problem I find with the standard GSA bench is it seems to encourage your troos to pull tight round your nuts while riding, a sensation I'm not a massive fan of. If you're into thongs and mankinis you may find it ok.....
