Operation engine swap.

Look on real oem.com, that will tell you

if you see 4 coils generally the upper 2 are the same & the lower 2 are handed

i belive the later LC bikes only have the upper coils, so not handed

How much is crazy for the blue mineral..

Over £20 for a small bottle. Will try and find some blue fluid in elsewhere. I did look in Halfords, but only had the Citroen green stuff.

Sure the clutch fluid is the same as the stuff they use in pushbike disc brakes , might find it cheaper from that source

Neil, don't forget to let us know how the problem was resolved.

Put some DOT 5 in.. you'll never have to look at it again!

I certainly will.
I thought I would re attach the clutch hose to the slave cylinder today but to do so I had to take off the exhaust, the starter motor, battery, and still can’t get at it! I should have done that first. :blast
Pity the battery tray doesn’t come out easily ,if at all, as that would give good access.
If the coil gets delivered tomw, may try and start it up..
I could do with a spare 1200GS parked in the garage so I can see where all the wiring and tubing etc, goes.

Getting there.

Real oem and a haynes ??

a mobile phone and lots of pictures as you took it to bits would have done the job as well as any manual for the routing of loom

I did take lots of photos, but never enough.
I think I am nearly there just 2 connectors that I need to be sure of, before they become inaccessible. Will try the wiring diagram.

i dont want to teach ya granny how to suck eggs or state the obvious ,but make sure you have put some oil and water in .
an easy mistake to overlook when you have done a major surgery:thumb

I remembered that much, just forgot to charge the battery. So the big startup will be delayed for a couple of hours whilst I charge it up. :augie

Youtube can help lots

THe bike has at least 2 spare connectors on the loom that i know of at the headstock

did you not label each one you took off ?? ;)

Well it runs....:clap
Started up first go and after it had cleared all of the oil out of the exhaust, from previous engine expiry, which was a little unsettling, it cleared up and was ok.
A little lumpy, with EML light on, so will want a little investigation. Anyone fancy popping over with one of those fancy readers? I may get one in the long term if all goes well.
The clutch does not seem right. I bled it but the lever doesn’t feel right. Will try to tomorrow but not confident.
Do you get a reading from the oil level sensor when on tickover? I just get dashes. Just checking I have connected that up ok.

Been following your thread with interest. Well done so far.
The oil sensor reading says OK under certain conditions. I think engine temperature has to be normal, bike in neutral, idling for a few minutes. Maybe not on the stand.

Thanks.
Only a minor issue. The clutch is my last big issue, which I will look at tomw.
