Opinions on Options Please

Tyre Pressure Monitors are w@nk

Have you had a bad experience with them?
I was sceptical about these and wouldn't have even considered the option outside of a pack but they are very effective and surprisingly accurate.
First tyre change may well change my mind if my usual man can't do it and I have to use a BMW dealer.

Rob (both option packs because as the man says above it was only a few quid more than the options I actually wanted)

p.s. ESA and Remus headers/Akro can are my favourite options. My mate appreciates ABS as it stopped me running him over when he fell off in front of me.

.

No difference changing tyre with TPC. Its just a block attached to the rim. Anyone who has a problem changing tyres just don't want your money

I have all these goodies that make your life easier and your riding safer. You never know.....
Coming from a R 100 GS PD '93 I found all these extras awkward but after getting used to them I say that are money worth spent. Coming out of cornering without having to thing about rear wheel sliding is something else(you can turn it off if you need the extra adrenaline flow)
Hitting the brakes and concentrate on steering is also conducive to evading an accident.

I would go for it (I did actually)
:aidan

When I bought my RT I didn't have the TPC fitted though I wouldn't be without the ABS and ESA now that I've got them.

I've used ABS in anger once or twice and yes, it is worth it. Particulalrly as the servo brakes are now a thing of the past and the brakes feel remarkably "Normal" so to speak.

Heated grips (And seat on my SE model) are always more useful than you think they are going to be. I've used both a few times on mine so far and I only bought it in May this year...

My thought is that if you have TPC you'll end up relying on it to a lesser or greater extent. It's human nature to do so. I'd rather not be in such a situation, its as simple as that.

Newcomer to the 1200GS, waiting to get the right bike and the right deal.

Just wondering what the collective wisdom and thoughts were regarding two options on the 1200 - Namely:

ABS, is it a must have or is it nice to have, I am sure there will be comments about experience etc, but in general is it something worth paying for on this bike.

Traction Control.... same question as above really.

Thanking you in anticipation :thumb

i suppose this will make for my "hello, newbie here" post aswell!!!! :bounce1
Hello Norm,so many options,so little time eh, bought my GS1200 last Aug,one of last "older models" fitted lowered Ohlins and a low Sargent seat, (29" inside leg) makes it a lot more managable, ABS and heated grips a must IMHO also added a Bos exhaust system (Thanks to Thunder). Engine bars and upper body bars by Motech via Nippy Normans (great service) also as Adventure screen plus various bits and bobs. Most options are for comfort/performance/looks, but again IMHO the best upgrade was my HID headlight and spotlight conversion by Professor Wassell.I am convinced that I have been seen by some car drivers that may have not noticed me,and at the end of the day,you can have all the options and add ons you can shake a stick at, but they would be no use at all if someone "doesnt see you" Best Wishes, Neil.

bin and gone and dun it

Done the deal today, the bike I eventually did the dirty on is a 57 plate 08 model bike????? eh....

5000 miles
ABS
Stability thingy
Battlewing tyres

So here is a new question to all contributors .......
The deal includes new rubber front and rear, I have asked for tourances but now have read about the wear rate etc of the "new tourance exp's" and wonder if I've done the right thing.:confused:

Any road up, I am now a Tosser. :beerjug::beerjug:
My missus says it's a shame I've had to spend £xx grand to find that out, she's been calling me that for years .... :handbag
