So the 'cutting out' issue as been sorted but the new ailment the SMT is now suffering is a very snatchy throttle. Now, I know they're renowned for it as standard but it wasn't like it before KTM worked on it. I bought the bike last December having test ridden my friend's, his throttle was horrendous but this one was advertised as having an RC8R Progressive Throttle, claiming to vastly calm down the problem and in fairness, it really made a big difference. While the bike was in the garage last week, amongst many other tests, they checked the throttle sensor and fitted heated grips. When I collected the bike on Saturday I immediately noticed how bad the throttle seemed to be but I wasn't sure if it was because I was comparing it to my other bikes that I'd been riding whilst the SMT was off the road, or whether it really had been adjusted by the mechanic. 200 miles later, I was convinced a setting had been changed so I emailed the garage to enquire. They responded saying that all they had done was removed any 'play' in the throttle and if I wasn't happy then I could adjust it back.
Does anyone have any knowledge on the RC8R Progressive Throttle? Would removing the 'play' affect its performance? My problem is that I don't really understand what one is, or what it does.
The bike's having its first MOT tomorrow via an old friend of mine who works at a local bike garage, I'm going to ask him to take a look at it but really would welcome any recommendations for you if you think you might be able to help (again - and thank you very much - again)
Regards,
Jo
