Unfortunately hit a rock in the road. There were several, obviously some lorry or tractor who couldn't be bothered to secure their load. Was sure the tyre must have been sliced, but upon inspection, nothing. However, later at home I spotted that the rim had been badly damaged - don't even know how the tyre had remained inflated.

The further shock was the cost of replacement - £575 plus fitting, plus a new tyre, plus better replace the rear at the same time, I am guessing well over £900 for someone else's carelessness. Still in shock.!!!

If there is no damage to the tyre why replace it? and replacing the rear what for? you aint Valentino Rossi in a race!, as for cost thats what insurance is for and perhaps a pair of glasses might be in order.

I bent the front alloy wheel on mine hitting a rock. Sent it to motoliner in Kent who sorted it for about £75. Might be worth a call.

Bad luck. Or is it good luck for it not being an even bigger rock. Shocking cost though.

Def replace both tyres as the back may be damaged as it would have gone over the same rock. Especially as it's likely to be an insurance job.

Not wanting to be an ambulance chaser but....

I have an old pair of cast wheel, minus tyres, from my 07 GS. They are usable and straight with good bearings, they could do with re painting as they are corroding around the brake disc posts (they all do that sir). PM me if you want to discuss. I see you live down in bandit country so not too far from me in civilised Devon:thumb2

Another plus for motoliner here. I thought my wheel was a write off but they sorted it. Even touched in the colour.

It was like new when I picked it up

You don't say if it's spoked or cast.

Sherlock's will have a 2nd hand one if it's cast. James advertises on the home page.

Devon Rims who are in.…Devon… surprisingly are not far from you in C'wall and do sterling work on Spoked rims.http://www.devonrimcompany.com.

I ran over a brick on my GSA and put a slight ding in the front spoked rim. Ran with it for ages then bought a 2nd hand one on this site. They come up occasionally.

Not the end of the world.

Fluff.

Fluff,

Your post count is appalling and you should be ashamed of yourself. 164 posts in 6 years! what on earth are you doing man? You are clearly spending too much time at work instead of doing something more useful by spending more time on here! :D

And you, Sir, have demonstrably far too much time on your hands. 4,040 indeed!

It's a matter of quality not quantity…...:beer jug:

Sadly I have neither of both.

X.
