Pacific North West National Parks and Yellowstone.

i'm for binning it. any counter arguments i need to take into account?

Depends on the charges you might get if you have no breakdown cover at all I suppose. Worst case scenario is a damaged bike that can't be towed. Whilst the policy is pretty crap it does give some limited cover, a point of contact and is at least cheap!

It's an adventure you can't cover every single risk, but I can see the attraction of touring on a C90 rather than an expensive GSA. If it goes wrong, chuck it and buy another!!

Binned mine... I've already explainex to jo that if we can't gey a bike to town between us then we're staying put.... she can push while I sit n steer! There are worst places to breakdown!!

Ok peoples..... I have spoke to the AA this morning. They are telling me that being a member entitles you to certain benefits in the USA and Canada with AAA (American automobile association). It Includes battery problems and recovery, albeit the recovery is only 3 miles:blast it does also have discounts on other cool stuff but you'd have to go to the AA website to look it all up. This is all good if you are an AA member as it works on a "show your card" scheme. There may be an additional cost for towing extra mileage but we'll see as I have emailed AAA this morning to see if they will supply assistance and recovery for an international traveller. :bounce1

Keep you posted as always :rob

I was doing some research regarding IDP's (international driving permits). Please read item J. Maybe Chris can shed some light. Do we need an IDP?

My back up plan on the 2 trips that I have been with was to hire a u haul van and shift the bike to where it needed to go .

YOu don't need an IDP in the US. I've just sent a note to Fernet reference the breakdown cover which I'm exceedingly pissed off about. Their website clearly states that it's unlimited mileage for breakdown.

No worries though, I have a tow rope and I have used one in anger before when I towed my buddy on his 650 120 miles off the Dalton:thumb

Boatmans back up plan is possibly the best solution and we nearly did that when Yamonda's back wheel decided to part company with his bike.

Anyway, all will be well so stay on the positive side.:bounce1

it does say "may be" a play on words methinks.

On a seperate note I'm distinctly unimpressed with B.A..
Having spent £1200-ish on the return flight I went onto their website to see if I could pick my seats for each trip and it would appear that I can. At an extra cost of up to £80 return!
And I always thought Ryanair were the ultimate rip-off merchants.

It's a shame as I like B.A. but am unlikely to use them again in the future if Virgin Atlantic offer a realistic alternative.

You may have miss read that mate because I've always been able to change seats FOC on BA. You will be allocated one and if you go into your flight details, it comes up with an option to change seats (if any are available) and in fact we did it 2 weeks ago for Jo. Something wrong their old son so have another look.

after me telling them i don't want the breakdown cover Fernet has still seen fit to remove the fee for it from my credit card account :blast
probably an oversight and the email i have just sent will alert them of it after which they will credit it back and balance will be restored in my universe :D

i'm off to the COUTC do shortly, anyone else off here going?
i shall be in my little van as of course no feckin' bike :blast

Once I've paid to book my seats (which I have now done, much against my better judgement) I can change them F.O.C., but to get an allocated seat in advance there was a £40 fee, each way.

I am currently 'Outraged of Lincoln' at having to pay the extra wonga but sometimes one simply has to bite the bullet. I did have a rant at BA's customer service team, though not specifically at the advisor on the other end who is just the poor fecker having to take the flak for Willie Walsh and his capitalist bassa's management team's policies.
In essence I told them that if I wanted to have a Ryanair fleecing experience I expected to pay Ryanair prices.
I had a 30 minute wait to get through to BA's Complaints Team which, IMO, tells you all you need to know about how wrong Walsh and his right wing cronies are getting things.

Come the revolution Brothers..........

Hey ho, that's off my chest now, time to move on and look forward to the holi-bobs.

I look forward to strolling on to the flight in my Klim BP jacket. Fully loaded with essential bits for 10 hour flight :)

I can get a MacBook in the back :)
I always love the faces of the people next to me as I ain't insubstantial to start with.
Not bothered where they put me. I am sick of flying Anyway after years of treatment as cattle. I pay for one up I.e. WT+ with BA and that's it. Several biz and first class haven't changed my view.

I often fancy travelling by boat in cabin as cargo.
