Just purchased a BMW Navigator V for the GS TE. Having problems pairing the Satnav with my iPhone 5. Has anyone had a similar issue when pairing the two devices and knows how to fix this. The two devices connect but disconnect almost immediately. Cheers.

Yes, because the Nav V has no internal speaker, you can only pair your phone with the device when a suitable bluetooth headset is also connected, otherwise it will simply cycle in and out of connection

I didn't have any issues pairing my 5s with the Nav V.:nenau

Me too.....Paired SAT NAV to NOLAN NCOM but can not get Iphone 5s to simultaneously pair. Must be a sequenece. 3 elements NAV V , Nolan NCOM b4+, Iphone...... drivin me nuts.help !!!

Turn BlueTooth off & back on to unpair or delete NCom from Sat Nav. Then Pair the iPhone to the Sat Nav first & then the Sat Nav to the NCom.

Cap'n Darling...

There are three separate items:

1. Your iPhone 5 phone

2. Your Nav V

3. Your Autocom

In what sequence (order) are you trying to pair your three separate devices together? If you get the order wrong it won't work. I suggest you start right from the beginning, unpair them all and then follow the correct pairing sequence.

That way at least you (and maybe we) will know what you have done and (maybe) what the problem is if you find it is still not working.

If you find it does work, come back and tell us.

Thanks will try today.

Bike arrived from dealer with Autocom already paired to Nav V. I then paired the iPhone 5 to the Sat Nav.

Will unpair, start from scratch and report back

I have found if I try pairing the two devices (in my case Nav V & iPhone 4s, no helmet coms) with the Bluetooth option on both devices, it just connects and disconnects as mentioned above.

But if I 'pair' the devices using just the Nav V to connect, it connects to the Garmin Smartphone Link app that I downloaded from the app store and stays connected.

Spoken to Garmin, we went through the setup of the Nav V with different phones. iPhone 4 works as it should using the Smart Link. iPhone 5 does not work with the Smart Link. Conclusion is the iPhone 5 is the issue. Whether its the Smart Link software with the iPhone 5 or the phone OS Garmin were not sure.

Will now try the Nav V with the autocom and iPhone 4. Garmin confirmed the Nav V can pair with more than one device simultaneously.

whats the right sequence? Because the NAV V stupidly has no speaker I re-set and paired: NavV to Helmet ONLY and turned off bluetooth on IPhone. Still drops conneection and have to manually set up every time

Edwgordon ... I have the BMW sat nav / comms set up and all is well but I had 1 day, for just a few minutes where it would connect then almost as quickly it would drop out .. just the same problem as you are having ... I left it for a while and it hasn't been a problem since ... like any technical stuff it may be a hardware glitch, I don't know but if it continues pop back to the dealer.
Capt Darling may be right .. might be an Iphone 5 issue. Good luck.

I have an iPhone 5 with the Garmin 'Smart Link' app and a Nav 5.

I can get the phone and the Nav 5 to pair 100% reliably. That being said.

1. I had to re-pair them after making a subsequent Apple software update on my phone.

2. The 'Smart Link' app has to be running on the phone. If it is not running, then a Bluetooth connection will be made and then very quickly lost again.

3. I have not tried to make or receive a phone call when riding along.

4. I have no other periferals (like an Autocom, Scala or PMR) running or attached.

Autocom now pairing reliably

Instructions can be heard through head set

iPhone 5 now pairing and Smart Link working with Nav V however although phone tries to make a call the call fails (could be my location - Vodafone signal pants !)

Sequence followed to get it working;_

Plug in head set to Autocom

Insert Nav V into holder

Wait for the Autocom and Nav V to pair

Then open Smart Link on iPhone V

Then go to settings on the phone and connect by bluetooth

Will try again later and see if it still works without having to manualy reconnect now the link has already been made

I found that if you pair your phone first with the NAV5 and then pair the headset with the NAV5 the NAV5 seems to like it better.

This is my current connection setup and it works really well. The Sena SMH10 and SMH10R are quite versatile...
