What do ye think of these and do ye think they will fit and suit my 1150gs, I will have to get brackets made,

Please make sure you let as know when you find someone to make them and some pics would also be nice once you have them.

I'm a bit worried about the thickness, don't think they will take much hacking, what is the thickness of other boxes?

Get the R1200GSA panniers, they do have ready brackets.
