Parking in London

What about ...

1. Live view of the bay? So you know you are not going to a fully packed out bay.
2. Some sort of crime stat on the bays? How many of what brand/type of bike stolen or vandalised in that bay?
3. Do the bays have secure bars to attach your lock or just a plain vanilla bay?
4. Is the bay "long" enough for a GS? Or do you have to park diagonally?
5. How much for that bay or nearest FREE bay?

1. Would be nice, but impossible at the moment.
2. If you know wher to find these, then let me know :-)

4. Tipical GS owner - need loads of space :-)
5. All the bays on there now are free ones. I plan to add more detail in the next version that will tell you what the rules are related to the current borought that you are in. Some boroughs don't provide dedicated solo bays.

Holy crap Tom I think it will be easier if you just use the tube :blast :blast :D Is the bay long enough...........:eek

I have been to a bay a couple of times, and there was just enough room for one bike. Then I slide the thing in and my front wheel is sticking out. On a narrow one way road in central london .. you just wouldn't leave it. Some muppet van driver will just take your bike out.

So I use the tube :D

I am sure you could .. the app must have been built using coordinates supplied by the council or tfl .. or maybe he did go round london and geocoded all the bays :nenau
 
can I ask where you sourced the data from?

I don't have an iphone - fancy doing me a blackberry version :D

OK spotted the google logo, but how do I get this little bikes on my PCs?

I sourced the data from local councils. As I said in the description of the app, it currrently only have data from a few boroughs, but I'm in the process of adding more and hopefully there will be another update soon.

WRT the blackberry version: At the moment I just want to get Iphone version to a much better state (i.e. more data and borough related info) then I'll think about a blackberry version - don't hold your breath though.
 
hi there - - i paid for your app. it's a great idea - but there are kazillions of bike bays missing - - - ( sorry i can't be more constructive )

No worries - honest criticism is good. :-) I know there are loads missing and that's what I stated in the description of the app - well maybe not in those words :-).

I will be adding data as I get them from the various councils, so hang in there.

It's a good idea and perhaps it could be transferred to SatNav. Have you seen the London Bike Guide motorcycle parking book for London? You might be able to get more information from that book. The work among the London Boroughs has already been done. Try www.parkingforbikes.com

I spoke to the guys who published the book and that website, but they wanted £1000/year :eek: for the parking locations.

Enough said I think
 
I've bought it, only park at work in London but it may come in useful one day. Keep adding those updates.
