I need to buy a new PC and have no idea what to buy.
I dont need a monitor.
I dont need to play games

I do need to store lots of photos and music.
Listen to the music and sort and store the photos.
I do need to word process.
I do need to use it for Broad band.

All for under £300

Any ideas?

Mike.

If you have a John Lewis Store near to you, have a look there.

They don't bundle in stuff you don't need (like a monitor) and you get a two year warranty. They often have rigs under £300 (normally last seasons perfectly good kit).

Online - try http://www.spotonuk.com/ - they are a really good store in Manchester and their mail order is spot on!

Hiya!

This is fine if you don't need all of the whistles and bells. If you want to uggrade later - then you can.

if you want better sounds - buy a dedicated sound card as well ( and I think if you like music, don;t rely on the on-board chipset! - this one is fine: http://www.spotonuk.com/Srchinfo.as...ound+card&Make=Creative&ModelNo=30SB057000000
If you want to spend a wee bit more, the next one up is good too.

Have at John Lewis - worth it if you have time.

Try Novatech :thumb2

They've been around for a good while.

I don't know which to recommend, but their monitors are optional.

I take it you have a TFT monitor already ?, cos you don't want to be using a CRT these days :nono

Anway - see what you think.

Oh - FFS don't get Windows Vista  installed - go for Windows XP :thumb

The Icon Elite is within budget, £280 with WinXP. It has a decent AMD dual core processor, 1GB of memory, a DVD writer and a 250GB hard disk. http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?PC-1094
