Be careful. The spigot inside the oil filter chamber is a different length between the oil cooler and non cooler. You'll need to change those as well.

There are a few different BMW sumps - my GS had a small sump with no external fins so if you remove the cooler you should consider fitting the largest finned sump you can find - Anton Larbidgers site has all the details.

FWIW I have the large sump, oil cooler, a oil temp gauge and a pressure gauge on my GS and would never consider removing the cooler.

But without a temp and pressure gauge you probably wouldn't notice any difference - until you cooked it.

Poke a long screwdriver throught the hole, fit one end of the pipe onto it, and push the pipe and pull the screwdriver.

what spotlights ?? they're gone along with the fairing and other gumph

its stripped back to roadster style , looking very nice

drive shaft gaiter is easy ,provided as kenny says ,you have the drive shaft perfectly level.
i put one on peepingtoms rt ,before i sold it ,as i put it on the driveshaft wasnt level and i was there for about 5-10 mins trying to get it on ,i did level the drive shaft first ,but when i stepped back to look it wasnt perfectly level ,so another piece of wood under the wheel ,and then it just slid on .
make sure its perfectly level before you start,and you will have no problems .
