just fitted one of these Philips extreme bulbs to my 1100gs, fantastically bright (lights up road signs in broad daylight) however the beam is way off, low beam very high up, despite being fine before putting the bulb in,I was told by a fella in a garage that this was because of the bulb surely this can't be right?? Could I have put the bulb in wrong any ideas anyone?

thanks

Check that the bulb is seated properly. Some bulbs can lock in at an angle, sufficient to significantly alter the light pattern.

I can confirm that, I did the same thing, put a headlight bulb ( hard to tell what is the right way really) in the wrong way, the spray of light direction total weird, changed it around, and hey presto. Mind you it took me 3 days to realise it was not totaly right.

Aren't these car bulbs? Does it matter?

They won't blow my loom will they???

IMO, they just blow. I got 2000 miles each out of a pair:(. Still, complaining to Philips got me replacements, so it all worked out about square in the end.

i wouldnt waste your money with expensive bulbs like that. Just buy an HID kit. I put one in mine the other day and its amazing. Just £30 delivered from taiwan. Works a treat!

I went for the cheaper 35watt option but you can get a standard 50w option for about £50 that will cause less disruption to your electrics.

Theres no elements to break from vibration and should last around 10,000 hours. Or around 300,000 miles or so.

Cool, was that a ebay jobbie? Have you got a link

Yeah, the seller i brought from was "omg_so_cool_car " he has all different sorts of bulbs available.

But please be aware that there are sellers on this forum that im sure will be able to help you out with a specific kit. The stuff from OMG has instructions written in pigeon and the wiring is a bit short. Otherwise, it works.. if thats what your after.

boy! He is cheap aint he?

yeah, i only ordered one at first ... just to try them out. But to be honest the kit works a treat. Im going to be ordering a set for my mrs car.

I can take a pic of my bike with the unit installed if you like. Its got a standard bulb on the other side so you can see the difference

Ha, i messed around with it when i got it and hooked it up just to make sure it all worked. Was looking at it and thinking "feck me thats bright" turned it off and afterwards I had this distinct yellowly shadow burnt into my vision for around 4 hours!!! I almost got arc eye off this thing!

If you go for a set, i would recommened the 6000 kelvin set, they seem to produce the best "usable" light. My mate has a set of 8K on his and they eerrr towards the blue end of the spectrum... a bit chavvy if you ask me.

Still if you want that pic let me know

Paul
