Hello all,

I ride an R1100RT and am asking myself, "Could I use a piggyback fuse on an existing circuit to power an additional accessory?"

That way the wiring harness is unmodified, I can route through an existing relay with minimal complication and have switched power.

Any thoughts or experience of doing this please?

Thanks

depending on current draw....yes.

Thanks for that.

I have bought a gel seat with heating option that is no more than 30Watts, so 2.5amps continuous.

I'm planning on using a piggyback fuse off the horn line/relay. On R1100RT that's fuse 4 and relay 5. The fuse therefore would be 5amps off the back of a line that is sized for 15amps (fused). So the current draw is much lower than the horn (admittedly short term) demand.

It seems such a simple straightforward thing that I cannot help doubt myself
