Hopefully those that have done such things can put me in the picture on this one. I've already fitted a lead direct to my battery for my optimate, but what's the best way to route cables from the battery to the front of the bike-do I need to take the tank off etc? I'm thinking of adding some spots and possibly upgrading the horn, both of which would need a relay so where have you put yours. I also have a camera to fit which needs a usb power feed so any tips on that too would be great...:thumb

Use a PDM60, mine is fasten to the rear mudguard, I got the wire to the front by using a piece of tig welding rod, did not have to remove tank.

If you're using one of the new optimates, then it can plug into the connector on the dash. No need for a direct to battery connect. AFAIK, direct to battery is required only for the old optimates.

On routing the wires, if you loosen/takeout three screws holding the side panels (one just behind the steering column, the other to either side of the panels and the third directly above the front seat height adjuster), you can pretty much route the wires between the panels and the actual tank. Don't worry too much about where you route then from as long as they stay in place. use a few zip ties and you'll be good to go.

The PDM 60 is best located under the front seat (a tight fit), or the rear seat.

I appreciate that you are intending to fit a PCM60, which I don't have, but when I fitted my camera I simply bought a Maplin's cigarette multi socket with two usb's built in and then replaced the cigar plug with a Hella....but....the camera draws very little current and I found the Cambus system did not detect the camera and as such the camera continued to draw from the system after turn ign off resulting in a near flat battery after a few days!
Now wired to the two fuses under front seat and turns off after around twenty seconds following ign being switched off

Thanks but my optimate 4 doesn't have the hella plug as I preferred to go direct to the battery so I have the option of powering a mini compressor from the same lead and I'd rather stay awau from the canbus

great thanks, this is really useful info

Again thanks. not sure If I'll need the PDM60 at the mo but that's good to know if I do

Again some good information, particularly about the camera draining the battery thanks to Mr Canbus! The camera unit I have has a separate lens so the unit could go under the seat by those fuses :thumb2
