I love my 1100rt, but have been thinking of moving up to a 1200. Now the 1100 only has 37000 on the clock ( 6000 of that in the year since I bought it) and I have fitted autocom, garmin satnav, changed all the brake lines to stainless etc so it has lots of life left in it.:thumby:
More to the point, my wife thinks it is the best bike I have ever had and is very reluctant for me to swap it. She finds it very comfortable is is well protected from the wind and weather. What she has always hated is to be perched high above me, and when she sat on the LC, she immediately said that she was too high up.
so.... the question is, what do your passengers think about the hexhead or cam head 1200's.?
If they have been on the back of a 100, how does it compare?::nenau

Having had experience of both the Hex Head and the Cam Head there is no difference from the Pillion point of view. (That's according to my missus).
You say your other half sat on the LC and found it to be "too high". Was the riders seat in the low position as this would give that impression or even if the bike was on the centre stand the same impression can be had. When we had an 1150 RT my wife hated the pillion seat but likes both our present Cam Head and the previous Hex Head which both have identical pillion seats (I think !!). Trouble is that if you ask a dozen pillions you will get different answers as we are all different shapes and have differing requirements. If you really want to give her a comfy ride you should try a K1200LT. On second thoughts, better not !!.

My son in law has an LT and she said it was very comfortable but she didn't like it! Said it was too like being in a car.:D
Next step is a test ride for the two of us.

I've had an 1150 rt and three 1200 rt's - the latest being a late 2011 SE TC.

My wife found the 1150 passenger seat a bit cramped when we had it and once compared to the 1200 she felt that there was more room and comfort in the 1200's. She has travelled as far as Spain on the back of the 1200 and on a long day did fall asleep :) She found there to be more room along with it being smoother; and really likes the heated seat version. Also found the pad on the top box better on the 1200.

However she has now stopped coming on the bike so my 1200 feels a bit redundant and Im thinking of going back to a GSA (I wish I hadn't got rid of the last one :blast )

Here is mine; i'm not in a rush but will probably sell sometime so if you wanted more detail on it just let me know :thumb2

If it is pillion opinion you seek, I can confirm the Mrs loves the RT LC, she finds it very comfortable. The only slightly negative comment so far being she sometimes feels some buffeting, so it may be time to contemplate a different screen.

What is a wife? Is it an optional extra or standard with an RT LC, as the dealer didn't mention it....

Your 11 is low mileage and you have it set up for you... The pillion seat is not as good as it should be and feedback from my girlie is the 12 is plusher and roomier... I can't see it being any better for the "perched up" bit though as their is a fair step as with the 11/1150's if the riders seat is on low...

You really need to have a ride on one to find out... I like the 12 for the fact that the fairing is far better, the engine is more refined and the clocks are lower so you can see far more of the road... You may think its crap though...:)

Strangely for me... The more I ride the 6 gear BM's the more sense the 5 gears make on the originals if you are riding at sensible speeds...
