has anyone any experience with pilot road 2 and then 3. currently have PR2 front and rear, rear needs to be replaced with PR3, but front is nearly new. just wondering if i should replace front also and how you found the difference between 2 and 3

Tiger 1050 forum has some good feedback on PR3's.
Better all round grip and better mileage than PR2's.

Had PR then PR2 then PR3 on my Tiger 1050.
PR3 is by far the best of the breed. Inspired confidence in both dry and wet. Excellent wear life. Can't comment on other bikes, but on a Tiger 1050 I wouldn't consider anything other than PR3 (unless they launched a PR4).
Oh and to answer your question, if the front PR2 is nearly new, I'd leave it on until worn out (with PR3 on rear) and then go for a matched set of PR3

If you're asking 'can I match two different tyres front and back ... ' ....

This question sometimes comes up and in a nut shell ...

Matching same make tyres like PR 2 & 3 or say Dunlop raodsmarts and roadsmart 1's will be fine. They will share a very similar if not identical profile and compound

The problem can come when you mix different makes of tyres that have completely different compounds and different profiles. You're then playing with say a front that wants to turn when the back doesnt, or say a very grippy rear but a bakelite front in the wet etc etc ....

Same make and model but different generation will be fine. Keep the front PR2 until its done. :thumb

I haven't tried 2's. But had 3's on my old bandit 1250. Brilliant!
My mate went from 2's to 3's on same bike. It was his recommendation that made me try them.
