After someone and moderated the comments from Wapping & I, I want to add some balance to the fuel pump controller thread.

Please add your name (or details of a friend) if you have NOT had a fuel pump controller failure on a 1200GS or 1200GSA.

Balance isn't needed.

What's wrong with someone collating information about a poorly designed part? And who the poorly designed part has affected?

BTW my fuel pump controller hasn't failed. Yet.

But I'm on my fourth set of forks on my HP and thinking of starting a similar thread regarding HP fork failure. I've spoken to BM about it and of course they deny there's a problem, and so it would be nice to give them some factual evidence of other failures rather than just hearsay.

...but how 'poorly designed' is that 'poorly designed' part. Does it affect 100% of bikes, 10%, 0.001%??

There's nothing wrong with Tim's thread, however he is just focusing on the negative aspects. I have done the same but I'm focusing on the positive to give it some balance as I feel strongly about putting threads like this into context.

Why try to be a smart-arse when someone is trying, I imagine, to gather information which may in the long-run benifit us all?

Which is precisely the point I was making...

By using the current figures, the fuel pump failure rate is at >80%. Without having that balance, we wouldn't know.

I also added the extra questions to see if the riding conditions & storage had an affect on the problem (e.g. riding in rain & storing for extended periods of time).

I'm not 'dissing' your thread but I do think you should put it into context.
