Possibe Oil leak from rear drive

On my GSA I have noticed oil leaking from around the black plastic ring on the centre of the rear drive unit.

Is this a seal that's gone? Is it easy to repair?

Yep, the seal is gone. It`s only a quick job and you`ll get it done under warranty if you have it

Cheers - I'll get on to having it fixed. Unfortunately no warranty so I'll have a look at it myself.

BertieRoy......if you have to do it yourself then here is a link that should help. Make sure you get the proper OEM gasket. Cheers!

BTW the new BMW released spec for the final drive lubricant has been reduced from 220 ml to 180 ml.

This is a common problem judging from the material on this site and AdvRider.

I'll get a new seal at the weekend and I'll have a play.
