Garmin swap out scheme tends to use white-box NOH units. Can see why you don't like the idea of one though, they are new or as good as new.

Just don't - I could trot out a bunch of reasons but there wil be just as many with counter or supporting arguments. And as the saving only seems to be about ~£15 - £20 prefer buy new.

For a £110 reburb/replcement - that sort of saving I'd be happy with.

They hide that well! The only place I can see it is in the Manuf part No?

Indeed - the only clue if "NOH" in on the web page that I missed initially. I e-mailed them asking for a quote for a new 660 & lifetime and it was their reply with "NOH" that gave it away.

Thanks anyway, I certainly don't blame you for not spotting it!!!

cheers

UPDATE - phoned Garmin and they will fix/replace for £135.31. Bargain as it was my fault. For that sort of saving over new, my small concerns over a NOH unit are well and truly over. Also means it'll come with new maps so won't need to buy lifetime update for a while :)

cheers

follow the link........

Here at Handtec we use the following terms to grade “non new items”
NOH or Newly Overhauled = Outer Box replaced – untouched device with all accessories in brand new condition

Thats fekkin outrageous !

If you do a search on Zumo 660 on handtec's website, you see the a range of results including:

"Garmin Zumo 660 EUROPE" & "Garmin Zumo 660 EUROPE - NOH"

Why the fek doesn't your search results display "Garmin Zumo 660 EUROPE - Refurbished" instead. After all, "refurbished" is a commonly used word in the English language. Whereas I don't think anyone outside Handtec has heard of "NOH"...

Trading standards would love this one.

I won't buy from folks that mislead...so that's Handtec out...

Its coz, the term and definition for 'em used is NOH ! newly over hauled and you can search for a definition amongst this forum .. they are usually new product and been reworked with firmware or software region , but as they've been handled again, cannot go into printed boxes, so come in plain white and as NOH.. and backed in UK by Garmin 12 months warranty.

Calm down dear.. the only person not to have heard of NOH is you :D

There's a lot of NOH zumo 660 out there so if saving beer tokens :augie inside track and heads up .. trade gets them £300 +VAT :augie so call it £360 inc VAT, now you can work out what margin is made .

yeah but will re claim the VAT surely? I have no issue with people making a profit BTW but ~£10 would not be enough IMHO!!

My replacement was a refurbished unit, but for £135.31 I have no concerns. If it lasts a few years I'd be more likely to get a NOH next time. No idea about the internal, but he case is defiantly unused, so assume the whole thing is unused.

You obviously don't understand how VAT works.
When they sell it to you they then have to pay the VAT back to HMR&C on their next VAT Return.

If you google 'NOH' you don't get anything that resembles "newly overhauled" on the first 2 pages of results, and I didn't look any further.

NOH is not a commonly used term in the UK, and Handtec provide the definition in the small print. The fact that it may or may not be commonly used on this forum is irrelevant.

Handtec's use of NOC is therefore misleading.

Vendors misleading customers is something that Trading Standards are always very interested in.

I have no issue with vendors selling new, used, broken, refurbished prodcuts provided that the product status is made absolutely clear; and Handtec are not doing this.

RAM-man - do you have any involvment with Handtec?

WTF?

Whats VAT got to do with margin if the vendor is VAT registered?

NO ! ...so any suggested slur or association .. doesn't p*ss on my chips.

I may just have an inside track that in the past has helped some here

I suggest you google inside this forum to read and learn what whitebox or NOH means ! I have explained enough times. I try to share or impart knowledge, so sometimes it just seems a whole waste of fecking time .

No I clearly didn't, but understand a little more now - thank you. £10 profit is not enough IMHO - no one can make a living selling a ~400 unit with £10 profit. Is online retail really running at ~2.5% profit?

cheers
