Can anyone find a cheaper 660 than this....

Hi all,

I'm about to buy a Zumo 660 and have seen second hand units going for £300 plus but have found them for £312 brand new and these are not white boxed refurbs here at satnaveasy.co.uk....

http://www.satnaveasy.co.uk/garmin-zumo-660-bikers-offer-price-i43148.html

Is this the best deal around that I've found or can they be bought for sub £300 now :nenau

Thought I would check here before hitting the "buy it now" button :D

I got my 660 from satnaveasy - it was a couple of years - back but there was no problem and the unit is still going strong. :thumb2

I can't see anywhere on the ad saying that these are not refurbished?

I bought a brand new 660 a year ago from Ebay. When it arrived the screen was damaged in transit, primarily because the packaging was rubbish, everything had just been thrown into the box - a white box! I called Garmin with the serial number and they confirmed it was a refurbished unit.

After a bit of persuasion and 4 weeks, I eventually got a replacement brand new unit, in a retail Garmin box. No problems since.

So be careful what they are selling at that price - its worth questioning.

I have just bought a Cardo G9 from SatNavEasy for £150 and am very happy with the purchase just to put my comments into persepctive.

I have read and reread the advert and I can find no text refering to it as referbished unit. I will ring them to double check though.

The refurbed white box units with a 1 yr gaurantee seem to go for about £280 so for an extra £30 I might as well go proper new :D

Lifetime mapes are available for about £50 and the cheapest 660LM I've found is £389 so I'm better of getting this at £312 and buying the LM updates when its a year old.

The Ebay ad I had (not SatNavEasy I should say) stated the item was "New" in brand new retail packaging. The ad itself was a very long one, several pages long and hidden in the text about 7 pages in were the words "delivered in a brand new Garmin white box perfect for a present". I missed that one line when ordering because I knew the specs of the 660 otherwise I would have questioned it but only because I happen to know refurb units come in a white box. Eventually they accepted that their ad was deceiving - they changed the ad and sent me a new unit. I paid £400 for mine about 18months ago. This was the cheapest of the new units and about £30 more than a refurb at the time.

I brought a 660 LM from satnaveasy last week, arrived in a blue and white garmin box, ram mounts were all in sealed bags, satnav unit and battery packed in pink bubble wrap, box has been dropped on one corner, everything was just laying in the box, I thought there would be some kind of rigid packing inside, but Everthing is unmarked and works fine.:)

Well I just rang them and they are white box units

I mentioned that the advert is missleading as it does not state that at all and he said..... "oh yeah, sorry about that, been meaning to change the ad!"

So for the bloody cheek of it they will not be getting my business

Glad I made the call as it has saved me a lot of grief

I don't get your reluctance with white box units  They are totally refurbished, as new and with latest mapping (usually). You still get the warranty and guarantee and having had one have no problems with it at all. Oh yeah, it's cheaper as well :thumb2

I agree. I've had 2 of these (me and the wife, not because of problems) white box ones and they've still come with the Garmin "new map for 6 months" guarantee. I fail to see why anybody would pay for what amounts to a nicer looking box. You get all the same stuff and same warranty etc but the bit of box you'll throw away, or put in the loft never to use again, is white!

Just my opinion, but no way I'd buy the full retail package.

I get what your saying and i'm not totally agaist buying a white box unit.

I have read that quite a few people have recieved the refurbed units and they have had scratched cases and marks on the unit etc.

I'm just trying to avoid being dissapointed but at the same time want a bargain

I'll ponder the refurbed one as it seems unless you go to a store and pay £400+ there is no gaurantee as a lot of the ones advertised as new are actually refurbed

Its a bit of a gamble it seems at the moment as not everyone states exactly what you are getting.

Jon - I bought mine from Satnaveasy (white box). It works perfectly. Not a mark on it. It looked brand new. That price is excellent and I believe the cheapest I have ever seen for a 660 :thumb2

It does appear to be the best price. I'm leaning towards a white boxed refurb now :D

I too bought one nearly two years ago. It came in a white box but the unit inside appeared, to me, to be brand new. It's worked perfectly.

PS Even the white box was brand new!!! :D

I have a 550 which I have found to be reliable and great to use. However, I have started to look at the 660 in the last few weeks and discovered this NOH product. Newly Over Hauled.
As stated on here I have no objection to this but some suppliers are definitely hiding the fact that they are refurbs. I may even buy one because a lot of guys have said they are as good as new. However, why is this fact being hidden and surely to advertise as 'new' when it's not is illegal.
I sent an email to one ebay shop, not satnaveasy, and the reply was 'no that one is NOH, I emailed back and asked whether the other 19 available were also NOH did not get a reply.
Also, when I bought the 550 from Pentagon about 2007 you could only buy new and could only get a NOH direct from Garmin it you sent a faulty unit back to them. Cost £100
It seems strange that there appears to be hundreds of these NOH 660's, where are they coming from? If they were originally faulty Garmin must have had them all back at some time?? Or is there another explanation?:blagblah:blagblah

If it is a Garmin-refurbished unit - I would say you should take the saving.

I bought a 660 last year (Full retail pack), which failed in first two weeks.

Garmin replaced it with................

A refurbished unit. :blast

Might as well have bought a refurbished unit in the first place :rob
