I had a test ride on a TE and noticed a power socket up near the clocks
Is there another nearer the pillion perch ?

I'm sure an accessory socket is easily fitted.

I paid £17 ish for the lead and socket (BMW sized socket) from Nippy Normans (it comes with an in line fuse). It is currently (no pun intended) fitted to my C1.

I have no idea what the BMW part costs but I imagine it is many times that amount.

Power Socket

My local dealer just got BMW kit in in feeds into front socket already their, then hole cut in tray under seat, and socket inserted, then just like twin cam before it but now with two sockets, mates already had his installed mine will be on first service.

That would be a yes then....unless your heated gear is shortcircuiting.

Same here. Gerbing's liner won't work correctly. Optimate 4 charger doesn't work either from the socket in Canbus mode. Direct to battery is the way now. What exactly is the use of this socket if it can't take more than 5 amps?

It should do - mine works fine. Have you got the charger set to CANBus mode....? :nenau
Yes, I have, and several times at that. I never got to get the bottom right fixed green light indicating charge complete. It kept showing the charging fixed yellow lights. That was on the RT. I will try again with the new GS. Who knows.

Other than that, the manual does say that the max. amps of the sockets combined is 5 A. WTF? My electric liner draws 77 W. Under 12 V., that's already more than 6 amps.

It's good for things that take less than 5A (60W) :D

Schtum, I guess all this insulation you wear is due to the northern climes you frequent. That stuff doesn't sell so well in the deep SW. Heck it sleeted one day this winter down here - shock- horror.

I emailed Nippy about whether the optimate 4 was compatable with the WC .

Reply "Still waiting to hear from Optimate – they will be finished testing by the end of April."
We will be in touch as soon as we hear.
Regards
Norman

Has anyone tried this and have it work yet ?

Re Optimate 4, I just connected the female plug skt to the battery -ve under the side panel and just to the right of the battery, there is a +ve terminal (meant for a jump start) so the charger is connected straight onto the battery.
This way you know its getting charged without all the canbus queries..
