Went out on the bike today to see family and pick up an item bought on this forum. Did my normal pre-ride checks on the bike which in my case, includes checking for loose straps etc. I run a Touratech luggage plate in the pillion space and have two Rokstraps permanently attached. All was good. Set off down the road and after about two miles, I heard an almighty bang. I actually thought it was at the side of the road in someone’s garden. Bike ran ok, so nothing wrong I thought. Got to my destination and saw what’s in the photos below. A strap must have come untucked and dangled into the wheel. The bang was the web strap snapping. I was amazed that the luggage rack wasn’t damaged at all, because those web straps are extremely strong. Took the wheel off and removed the damaged strap and all looks ok. That could have ended very differently for me this morning. Rokstraps are now in rank bag, out of harms way.
