Preventative maintenance

When you say 'at the start of the lever travel' I take it you mean with the lever fully released you only have to pull it in 15mm to disengage the clutch? Could this be just a problem with an iffy slave cylinder?

There's nothing wrong with that clutch slave/master cylinder. It's all good.

Worth checking the clutch hydraulic hose at the slave cyl end, famous for trapping water inside the sleeve and corroding away.

Good tip re halving the front cover!

Did you include 2 sets of rear brake pads?

Great advice from Steptoe.
Read up on the servo bypass method before you go and make sure you have the right tools with you.

The only thing I'd add is to try some simple operations such as an alternator belt change (also a requirement for hall sensor replacement) with the tools you'll be taking. There are a couple of odd-ball fasteners like the crankshaft pulley nut which often aren't included in standard socket sets (and do a search for Steptoes method of cracking the crankshaft pulley nut loose - easy peasy ;) )
