Pro Gear Assist for 2014 GS

Almost 25% of the cost of my bike :blast:blast

The latest must have alongside rim tape, carbon wrap, loud pipe and sticky road tyres.

RIP GS :rose

According to the dinosaur riders, the GS died when the first 1200 was launched.:blagblah:rolleyes:

And it's a good point they make too. It's a hybrid thing now thats a bit of everything that the market wants, if it wasn't it wouldn't sell as well as it does. It's atracting the sporty bike riders which must be good for everyone elses road safety.

There's a phrase I never expected to see on UKGSer.com :blast

Don't see why not? The GS has always been a quick bike from A to B! My 2007 GS did OK when I took it to the Nurburgring, not a Fireblade I know but good enough for an enjoyable 2-up lap!

The LC just takes it one step nearer to a sports bike while still being good at what it's always done well. A good thing in my mind!

Those who don't want quick shifters, cruise control etc don't have to have them...............

Just shows how far the GS concept has moved on................think I will have to have another go in the Spring:D

You should, John. But get one for a weekend, so you can give it a thorough test.:thumb

With the numbers the LC is selling in, BMW must be doing something right.:thumb

When the 1100GS was launched, almost 20 years ago now, it was only 0.5 of a second slower 0-60 mph than the Firebalde of its day :thumb

The Airhead owners back then used to chortle in their Horlicks mumbling something about it not being a 'real GS' :augie

I suppose its different strokes for different folks, your more than welcome to try mine if your ever Derbyshire way, its not the case of having to redline it.

Thanks for that and I will given the chance.

For the record I've never slagged the LC. Struggle to see the relevance of some of the options and would prefer they stayed in the centre ground of the GS concept rather than developing a mutistrada clone. For me the jury is still out although to be fair I haven't ridden one.

Mostly because I associate that kind of phrase with the kind of riding that goes on in the heads of sports bike riders, the ones with pristine knee sliders. You see them in the pub and at biker stops, always fast when they get off ;)

The GS was always good from A to B because the ergonomics, handling and power characteristics were appropriate to the conditions on the road in a way that a track orientated bike wasn't :nenau

Up to a point. I found that point was trying to hang onto a mate on his VFR800 VTec at a steady 110-115 along a twisty Highland A road. Early indications are that the new GS would be more capable of running at that pace and faster.

developing a mutistrada clone

perhaps that is an unfair summary of the GS/MTS conundrum. The GS (from things like front wheel size , ability to disable ABS on rear wheel only , availability of spoke wheels from the factory , shaft drive , tank range , etc) is far from a MTS clone.

if you were going to look at clone-theory , maybe a better comparison would be the KTM 1190 and the MTS.

I contacted my dealer who spoke to bmw technical and they reckon that it's not possible to fit it to a new adventure.
So we will have to wait and see.
Please keep us informed how you get on

That makes sense.:thumb
