Got my ex demo 09 GSA along with the BOS full system. When I tried to fit it it seems the headers are not the right shape and almost seem too long so the Y piece will not meet the hanger.

This is an '04 on system. Does it fit the 09 or a I doing something wrong?

From memory BOS make 2 versions for the 1200, 04 to 06 and 06 on.

Don't ask me why they do as no one else does but it sounds like you have the earlier version.

The 06 version definitely fits, I had one on my 2008 1200.

Cheers. It means I've been sold the wrong one ... I could just try and fit my staintune headers but they look manky!

The earlier system will clout the extended peg that hold the double side stand springs on the later models. i am sure that is the only difference.
The system can be a pig to fit even if it is the correct one.

I learned the trick from fitting the Staintune to my 06 GSA - swear loudly until my neighbour comes to help hold bits!

When BMW changed the centre stand design from '06 onwards it meant that the BOS systems for the '04 and '05 bikes no longer fitted the '06 onwards bikes.

Can it be made to fit by trimming the ends of the down pipes? I got this system as an end of line 'fire sale' thing and may not be able to exchange them!

Call the guys at Fowlers of Bristol they are the agents for BOS give them the part number and they will tell you what system you have,
It would be a brave move to start cutting up the thing. it would render it unebayable.

Called Bos themselves and they were very helpful. I need a set of downpipes/Y-piece.

I'll be calling hte guys I got the system from to see what they want to do but most likely I'll be buying a new set and selling a complete brand new system for the cost of the new downpipes. I've got 2 end cans (don't ask - you buy something then get offered a gift!!) so it should all work out nicely.

More tomorrow
