What wheel are you going to fit to that bevel box?
going to modify the paralever wheel. my machinist friend says it looks quite straight forward - lets see. We have been looking at other people that have done this on other forums and web sites.
Been thinking a lot about overall ratio's.
With the 33/11 that compared with a g/s is +10% on gearing
With the GS 17" rear wheel compared to the g/s 18" is effectively -4%
So the overall gearing effect is +6%
If I want to go higher than this I will re-lace the paralever hub with an 18" rim from an R100R - that will get me back to +10%. (its an option I'm keeping in my back pocket depending on what the engine pulls like once done)
So with gearbox if I do 1st -6% that'l get 1st back to as standard and 5th plus 6% that will get to overall +12% which takes top speed from 105 to 118 which means cruising at 80mph is 68% of full revs rather than 76%.
Well thats the theory for now ... happy for anyone to spot any obvious flawa before I go too far ..

looking good.. shame I didn't know you needed a mono arm & b/box as I have the ones left over from my bitza project languishing in the garage! oh well..
then I could have given you all that money I just gave to motorworks!!Got any other interesting bits lying around? What ratio was the bevel drive incidentally?

Hi Bigyellow : that's incredibly generous thank you. I have bought the parts now which is a shame. I suppose I should have shouted out my need a bit stronger!
I would still be interested in the ratio of your bevel drive and whether it is a 3 or 4 bolt one. My road bike g/s is definitely under geared and I have been looking for better ratio than the 37/11 that's on it.

Hi Pete, I wandered into Bahnstormers, yesterday, and they said they'd take the circlip off the driveshaft if I took my mono swing-arm in. They reckon it'll take half an hour and cost £45! I can make the tool and take it out in that time. You're welcome to borrow it when I'm done if you like.

That would be great - thanks. With the right tool it can't take more than 5mins. I am surprised at Bahnstormers - they are usually quite helpful, hmm but maybe thats becuase they are usually taking my money

Yeah, they seemed helpful. I don't think they were trying to be malicious or anything - it's probably just that it's a long time since they did one and weren't sure how long it would take.

The bbox is of an R80RT mono (as is the arm) 4 stud and 11/37 I believe.

Hiya,
The rear rim from a R100R is 17 inch (same as a GS), the front though is 18 inch, both 2.5 wide. The 18 inch rim requires different length spokes that you can get from The Devon Rim Company for about £70 a set (front rim).
Do update if you are re-lacing; apparently these wheels are notoriously hard to lace.

I use a big vice and a bearing splitter. Just takes a few minutes to take one apart. It's the earlier solid driveshafts that I struggle with.
Pidcocks split a mono driveshaft for me a couple of years ago for a tenner
