Over the last six months,I've serviced quite a few 1100GS and 1150GS bikes for people, and everyone has asked why I don't advertise it as another service I can offer as well as the fabrication side of business,so,here it is,and what I can offer you.

Basically,if you want to service your bike, but you haven't got the confidence to try it yourself, give me a ring, sort out a time that suits you, even Sundays if you want, and we'll service your bike together in my workshop. You can get your own service kit and oil,or I can supply it. Also, if you have anything to fit to your bike, bring it along and we'll fit it at the same time.

Clutch changes are the same, make an appointment and we can do it between us and you can see exactly what is being done to your bike.

I'm planning on offering throttle body refurishments as well,to get rid of the rattle when they get worn.Ride in and ride out a few hours later with rebuilt throttle bodies. I have a guinea pig coming in to see if all the tooling I have made works, and if it does, then I'll do it by return post if you can't turn up in person.

Also, welding stainless and aluminium, and if you need a spacer making, I can machine one of those up for you at the same time.Got a stripped thread, bring it to me and I'll show you how to helicoil it. In fact, if you have something in your mind that you fancy making, but don't know where to start, then give me a call and we'll have a go at it.

Now the crunch, money. I haven't worked out a price for the throttle body rebuilds yet, but expect around £85 for one side and £140 for both sides. Everything else,a flat charge of £30 per hour applies, and materials and parts on top of that.

Of course, if anyone just wants to drop their bike off with a list of things to do,then you're more than welcome to do that as well.

My workshop is just south of Chester on the A41 and nice and easy to find.

If you think there is anything I can help you with, just give me a call to have a chat about it on 01829 771040. If I'm not there, just leave a message and I'll get back to you.

Thanks one and all :beerjug:

Well as one very satisfied customer from the past, present and future (gearbox rear seal being replaced this weekend) all I can say is he's a bit of a top bloke when it comes to working on these things (don't tell him though :augie)

No matter what you need doing, whether a simple service, aftermarket bits fitting, or you want to turn your GS into some sort of cross country bike that can also be turned into a boat on arrival, then I reckon Vern is your man, I really don't think anything is beyond his engineering talents. He has in the past had my bike in, stripped it, had the frames powder coated (fantastic job) and replaced the clutch last year. This year he has more than helped with stripping the bike down when I have just had to have the engine rebuilt due to a faulty internal oil pump.

He really does know his way around these things and the only problem I can think of when working on the bikes is the amount of time you spend drinking tea and having a laugh (as mentioned above), it just doesn't seem right laughing at a place of work.

One thing that impresses me is the amount of people that just call in for a chat and a cup of tea when passing, I think that says a lot about someone when people just want to call in.

If you haven't had your bike serviced for a while then give him a call, or just call in like everyone else seems to do :thumb

I'll take some photo's and post them up soon to show the powder coating etc.

Vern, if i had known you wanted to check over a XTZ12 for rails/cases fitment a while back i would have brought mine up for you :blast
Thought you just wanted to take the piss :D

top service

I too can vouch for Vern and have been going back since I purchased a set of his worldbeaters. Popped in one weekend with what I thought was the dreaded bottom end knocking. After a brew (also free) and a listen, Vern discovered it to be the engine bars. One of the engine bar mounts had cracked along the weld causing it to vibrate, hence the knocking. Engine bars removed and welded up quicker than I could make another brew. £30 to remove a nasty rattle is a right result, ride home was a quiet and happy one.

Fully recommended :beerjug:

VERN'S ALL INCLUSIVE SERVICE

At the HQ of Project VND the all-inclusive facilities provide a constant flow of coffee (sometimes you get to it make yourself) backed up with biscuits and doughnuts. The entertainment includes top quality and very wide ranging banter :blagblah :blagblah and abuse. There are also periodic cabaret performances from a variety of dogs and hens, the undoubted canine star being 'Ratty' who shows you what a FD output bearing was really designed for by chasing one around the workshop floor.

Meanwhile, Vern will be expertly servicing your bike and identifying and solving any issues with great determination and the experience of his years working with 1100/1150s.

Vern did a fantastic job fettling and sorting my newly acquired 1150. Now all I need to do is save up for a set of the superb Worldbeater panniers

Highly recommended:clap:clap:clap
