What's the best stuff to spray on your new pride and joy to protect it from rusting/weathering? I read about something on the site here but can't seem to find it :(

Ahhh that's the stuff. Thanks. Think I'll give the credit card a bashing ;)

IMHO ACF50 is the stuff. Ridden mine all through winter and cleaned it once a month with 'Muc off' cleaner and a jet wash then re-applied ACF50 and there's no corrosion anywhere on the bike. It's probably a bit heavy for summer though and as I tend to wash it at least once a week it would work out to be a bit expensive. I'll use the 'Scotoiler' spray for the rest of the year.

No corrosion on mine either. Ridden 50 miles a day every weekday through winter too. I use Scottoiler spray and clean with MucOff every couple of weeks.

I'll be getting some ACF-50 when the Scottoiler spray runs out.

How do you use this scotoiler spray, do you wash the bike apply the spray and leave it to dry or what?

JayGee,

I wash it, dry it, then apply the spray. You can re-apply at any time in between washes as a corrosion inhibitor.

When I use the ACF50 I wipe off the excess with a rag but, there isn't as much residue with the Scotoiler spray as the water content evaperates leaving a thinner layer.

I've had good results with "Motorex 645". No corrosion at all on my 2002 Tiger which has been coated in salt regularly.
I'm currently using "Scottoiler 365" coz I got a lot cheap. Seems to be as good for corrosion but I find it runs off and away when trying to apply it. It's water based.
The Motorex is recommended by Triumph for the stainless exhaust because it does NOT contain silicon and so does not discolour the metal work when it gets hot.

I had a bad problem with the pride and joy weathering too but that's all sorted now that the missus has started using E45 cream.:D , I tried spraying it on her but she objects to that so cream had to do. Any good tips for grey hairs or receding hairlines?:D

Howard, which brand of salt do you find gives the best protection against corrosion? ;)
