Anybody know if you have to pre-book the Puttgarden - Rodby ferry or can you just turn up?

Thanks,
Tony

When I've done it in the truck before, it's just a case of turn up and present thew plastic. On some occasions there have been large queues of camper vans and caravans... so perhaps might be better booking :nenau

You wouldn't have that long to wait until the next ferry though ;)

As far as I know Tony you book and pay for your ticket in advance over the web. It's no problem if you miss your chosen sailing time as the ticket is valid for quite some time.

I used to sail that way very often when I drove trucks and was usually booked for a Sunday afternoon sailing but it never mattered what time I arrived at as I always got on the next ferry.

It's a pleasant 45 minute crossing. :)

Here's a link to Scandlines who operate on the route. Are you heading on up to Sweden or staying in Denmark?

Here you go. :)

Scandlines said:
1. Standard-Tickets and Tickets with open departures
Standard-Ticket are all tickets, which have no limitations or special conditions in addition to the General Conditions of Transport of Scandlines Deutschland GmbH. They are valid for the booked items (vehicle type, number of persons, etc.) as well as for the booked departure. If a booked departure has not been taken, ticket remains valid for the following 3 months, after first booked departure.

Taken from here.

Hi

When arriving on a bike ,buy your ticket in the ticket boot, and go to the front of the cue,no need to wait behind the cars and lorries, ususaly they will give you a lane to use.
the ferry ride is about 55 minutes.

if you want to buy taxfree there is a taxfreeshop on your lefthand side just 200m from the ferry terminal, which is cheaper than on the boat.this is on the German side.

Excellent info, thanks for all the replies.I'm off to Norway again,I usually ride up through Denmark but I thought I'd cut out a few miles and try the ferry this time.

You can buy a ticket at Puttgarden that will take you on the crossing to Rodbyhavn plus the ferry from Helsingor to Helsingborg. According to the Scandlines website it is €58 midweek and €63 at weekends for a bike and two persons.
