I have bought a Remus end can off this site from Woodsie and hope to fit it to my Remus Y piece in the next couple of weeks. Do I need to use masses of exhaust gasket goo, or will the clamps seal the joint? Is there any pitfalls I need to be aware of when fixing the can?...its a Remus Revolution alloy.

Many thanks

Silicone

Mike

I used some silicone sealant on mine. Works perfectly.
I did go and buy a new clamp to attach to the existing header as mine had totally corroded. I think it was a 52-55mm heavy duty clamp I used, bought from the local harware store.

I used silicone sealant also, found it a bit odd but the guy at jb racing said thats what they use, if you use the clear one it'll end up looking nice too....if you know someone who works for BT they get through tons of the stuff.

Sucking eggs

Not wanting to teach grandma, but make sure that every bolt / clamp has started to bolt up before tightening any of the other bits and pieces. And yes, bath type silcone goo seems to work ok.

Thanks for your replies.....just ordinary silicone sealant you get from B&Q etc?

I have put a remus from a different bike with a wider inlet tube diameter, so I had to make an adaptor on the lathe. Didn't use any sealant apart from the tight fit and there are no problems at all.

Maybe you are too worried about it...

Much as I enjoyed the LOUD backfire on my Remus 'over-run' I succumbed to silicone sealant to stop it.........:shoot:
