Quality Kit at a Poverty Spec Price.

Honestly - just check out the reviews on somewhere like sportsbikeshop.
The kit is fantastic for the money.
It’s like Oxford have come from nowhere I think with their rider gear all of a sudden.
Yeah, I’ve read the reviews but it’s much better to hear from someone who has actually had to buy it.
Thanks again, and thank your missus.

If yiur looking at shark helmets, be aware that the inner visor has a Blue tint, and is not a Black tint

So on really bright days, you may find yourself squinting as it doesn't block all the glare
The other option is the
scorpion exo, same helmet style but with a black inner visor

£179 - Forma Adventure Boots - Black
My concern is about the spiky foot pegs in the GS I'm awaiting delivery of so these might not work, but I'm going to try them on anyway.
These.
Mine survived 5 hours in the pissing rain on motorways. Not a drop was let in.

I got the Forma in the end. I tried two pairs of boots and they felt better. Also I liked the buckles the most, along with a bit more protection I hope.
I need to be careful with the spiky bear trap foot pegs, I might measure mines and then look for the rubber inserts!

Despite having a laminate Goretex BMW Moreno jacket, the late date for our Spanish trip this year prompted me to buy an Oxford Rainseal jacket in hiviz colours in case we hit any torrential downpours .
Used only once but the quality of the jacket seemed surprisingly good.

Knox. Motolegends bang on about Klim Marakesh mesh jacket , but the Knox version is way cheaper,Layer over it as opposed to u dear it, so I wear a (discounted) Windproof Rukka Aldwych fleece and then a Scot Ergo waterproof if it rains. Snug as a bug!
You can get a thin layer underneath as well…..I use an Alkpit griffon https://alpkit.com/products/griffon-hoody-mens?variant=40358792495209
Look out for Alkpit sales for good insulating kit

Had Scott waterproofs for about 5 years and still 100% waterproof, would not buy anything else now. All the expensive brands (Rukka/Klim/Halvarrsons) all wet out eventually so I stick to the Scotts now.
Gaerne Balance boots are excellent and you can get them very cheaply at times.
Another vote for Alpkit layers, the Arro wind shirt is brilliant and 1/3 price of Klim.

A similar story with my Forma adventure boots. They’re knocking on now so I managed to purchase a second pair from here earlier this year. They’re tucked away until my current ones give up the ghost. It’s looking like that will be a while yet though.
Great boots, comfortable out of the box, wide fitting, still waterproof ish.
I did the same. Brilliant boots, 5 years old, but I came across a 'worn once' pair for £80 on FB marketplace. They are on standby :)

I agree. In MotoCAP test results, look how well these Oxford waterproof gloves do:

In contrast, here are the MotoCAP test results of various BMW gloves:

I was surprised and disappointed by the mediocre protection offered by the BMW Pacedry GTX and GS Dry gloves.

Scott Ergo Pro Jacket (elasticated over-jacket) recently purchased for a Euro tour. Cost me £90 and kept me absolutely bone dry in a miserable day of persistent heavy downpour on a motorway slog through Belgium.

A mate without one wearing the same BMW textile jacket as me got quite wet.

Just bought a pair of these, they sound good, should pair well with my Adventure Spec linesman trousers. I like the layering principle when variable weather is expected, you can adapt easily as required

I have the Oxford equivalent yellow jacket, used it once in very heavy rain for an hour or two and it was dry. Good value jacket.

Interesting and timely thread for the price of a new Aerostich I could buy a full set of kit including boots and gloves and probably have £1000 change, based on the info on this thread.

Good post! Even if it is nearly a year old.

I started wearing a waterproof jacket over my 3 layer gear (as opposed to having laminated gear). I opted for the Revit fluorescent jacket that looks much like the Scott jacket above and the price is, I think, a little less even. It's on for the rain only. But that Scott jacket now on the radar!

As per JonnyBravo's post above (#18) I discovered RST about a year ago when I bought my son a suit. I was quite impressed with the quality. No gore tex in sight - though in his case, it has been worn just once. He's flippin out grown it already . But RST remains on my radar as a result!

Boots. I won't touch them if there's no gore tex...

I like many others have that jacket for summer use over Klim Marrakesh or other mesh stuff

I couldn't bring myself to buy the trousers as well so spent about £20 on Oxford rain seal trousers.
Whilst maybe not quite as comfy as the Scot version as they are not stretchy I can attest to their ease of use getting on and off and their waterproofness.

As someone else has commented Oxford stuff has come on in leaps and bounds quality wise but without the increase in price

I bought a pair of the Hinterland trousers but although marked as 34 waist and 32 leg they are too short, leg actually measures 30 so on their way back. Sports bike shop don’t have any long legs in my size left, which I assume are a real 32 so I’ll get something else

I also bought a paid of the Scott over trousers but the material was too rubbery a feel for my liking, plus with short leg zips they’re hard work to easily put on and off while standing so they have gone back as well. Berghaus it is.

After reading this I might try RST.
