Guys,

just looking for a bit of help here,

1) i want to see four data fields down the rhs of my map screen rather than 3 as there is just now,

2) in the distance bar at the bottom of the map screen i am trying to get Eastings and Northings (for coords) rather than the 'NW' field and 'bearing' field i have at the mo.

is my software needing updated??

cheers in advance, :thumb

Thanks from me too, :thumb
(I needed to lose the pointer as well.)

Still in the first week of Quest 2 'mangling'...
ho hum :mmmm :mmmm :mmmm

Another top tip, in other words the one I always forget :D To "trackback", ie go back the way you've come along your track, press and hold "ok" and then instead of saving the waypoint, select "trackback"

When you're playing with the Quest, whatever screen you have at the time, press the menu "button" once and play with the options your given.

Some of the stuff/options aren't really described that well in the manual

Another useful website on the Quest with faqs and how to do things here

Cheers guys,
another quicky here, if i have uploaded a track with the associated maps to the quest, how do i then find them on the quest?? are they poi's or something?

cheers,

t

I've just got a Quest 1. Does anyone know what difference it makes to the route calculation if you select things like "taxi" or "delivery" in the route set up options? Seems odd to have all these different options and then lump "car/motorcylce" together as one?

If i use "Emergency" will it get me places quicker?

Interestingly if i set it to "bicycle" it plots my route to work the way i would normally go. If i use "car/motorcycle" it suggests a different way, which i'm pretty sure will be chocka-block during rush hour.

But if i leave it on "bicycle" will it send me down one way streets on the pavement :D

I'm not sure what the exact criteria for the different vehicle settings are, but here is what I understand them to be:

1) Car/motorcycle: allows the GPSR to make appropriate trade-offs of additional distance travelled to save considerable amounts of time. Also allows the route to use streets that may have HGV restrictions on them.

2) Taxi: Forces the GPSR to put a priority on calculating what would be the 'least expensive' route for a passenger.

3) Emergency vehicle: Will allow left or right turns where prohibitions exist against them, etc. Be sure to turn your lights and siren on first. :)

4) Truck, HGV, Bus: Considers HGV restrictions on roads and tight turning radii of small lanes when constructing routes.

5) Bicycle: Cuts a lot of slack, ignores quite a few traffic restrictions that would apply to motor vehicles, will not create routes on roadways with bicycle restrictions (e.g. controlled access highways).

6) Pedestrian: Ignores all the traffic rules entirely, but will not route along routes forbidden to pedestrians (motorways, ramps).

Hope this helps. Please remember that this is my understanding only, it is not authoritative.

"taxi" :rob

gonna give that a go i think, and hope it takes lots of short cuts - cheers.

Fortunately i don't have the voice prompts set up, as i imagine it constantly telling you which famous person it calculated a route for the other day and expressing BNP style political views would get very annoying. :mmmm
