A friend and myself are going on a 2 week+ tour of Europe. I have tried loading the relevant sections of V8 onto the Quest and it was too large.

After a lot of trimming and taking out places I didn't want to take out, I downloaded a passage from Zeebrugge to Lake Garda.

On checking the Quest I was amazed to discover I still have all of the UK. As I don't need directions to Hull is it possible to delete the UK freeing up more space for Europe and then re-load the UK on my return?

If it is......how do I do it?

Many thanks

Yes.

Select the maps you want (shaded pink) in mapsource and download them to the unit. It'll overwrite any maps on the unit.

Reverse process when you get home.

Justa thought, if you've already loaded maps on, you're not looking at basemap for UK are you?

Thanks for that. :rob :rob :rob :rob :rob :rob :rob :rob

It's possible, but how do I tell. The Quest would allow me to download about 245mb of Europe.

the way i understand it it should automatically overwrite any maps you had on before so it is likely you are looking at basemaps only if you have loaded the relevant maps for your trip,

Just zoom in on any town and see if you have the street level, or put in your home address and see if you exist :D

Thanks for all your replies.

I used the Quest today and the UK is definitely the base map.

Just a thought Mike...if you really need a bit more space, switch to CN6 or some earlier version of the mapset...they seem to be significantly smaller and you may find you gain a lot more space at little inconvenience.....you may find a few bypasses or one way systems thatyou have to negotiate that aren't in the laest update but the much increased space you have for additional maps may well more than make up for that ;)

:rob That seems like an excellent idea, :rob especially as my mate will be running a version 6

I'll give it a try over the weekend and let you know how I get on.

Cheers

Seems to have worked....I can get a lot more on.

Many thanks

When loading V6 is it possible to view the file size. I've got sick of waiting 5-7 minutes of downloading to be told my file is too big. Eventually got the maps I wanted using 99% of the memory by trial and error.

There must be a simpler way!

Cheers

As you select the map segments that you want the total size of those selected (pink ones) is shown in the bottom left hand corner of the maps side bar.

In the example below this consists of 12 map segments amounting to 110.5 MB :thumb

So simple, but I missed it!

Many thanks for your swift reply. I'll know next time.
