Hi Pi

I have a quest and at the moment am using a mobile phone case cable tied to the cross brace as designed by Mr Paul Young himself if you search under his name there are a few pics that shows the current set up I have, I am waiting on the garmin bracket becoming available though.

went to Astle in grimsby yesterday and found it straightforward enough without the voice prompts while riding I don't have any problems without the voice prompts but think it will be better as a back up to checking the screen as suggested earlier from a safety aspect IMHO,

Whatever you decide I can say that the quest is a good little machine and does exactly what it says in the tin, easy to use and you shouldn't have any problems, I would say it is a good introduction to the joys of GPS systems

:helmet :D

Pi .. asks "me thinks i will get a quest... now to decide on how to mount... i may find myself using it on a 1200GS and an XR250... im thinking just a simple solution of using the cross bar for the 1200GS with a mobile phone case...

I have just learnt that there is a RAM shim* that when inserted into the RAM-B-231Z U-bolt mount base (also same part in the RAM-B-149Z handlebar mount - that many users have) this enables you to attach onto a 1/2" dia bar where in its basic form is designed for 3/4" to 1" dia bar.

RAM has the RAM-HOL-UN1 and RAM-HOl-UN2 cradles for phones etc, so with a RAM-B-149 or RAM-B-149Z plus the RAM shim* your sorted. Otherwise, a RAM-B-149 or RAM-B-149Z and the RAM shim* plus a re-working of a-n-other holder if you find something better.

*The part number is RAP-319 and description is RAM U-bolt Adaptor for handlebars.

I am getting some in the next delivery (allow couple of weeks) and will post a new thread on the subject.

Pi - I am getting lost in this thread..

Your question .. " they seem to do a quest specific cradle now... is it no good?

The RAM-HOl-GA15 is very popular and is being used by many bikers incl, GSer forum members, and before you ask, the GPSW branded Quest power cable for BMW's is being developed so the connector and its casing marries onto the rear cutout slot (on GA15).

This tooling for the casing takes 4 to 6 weeks !!.
