Good on yer Stash, you have now unleashed the true potential of the airhead -hold on tight. You now have honorary Aussie status (aka "blokes who think they know more than BMW engineers"):D

I run with a foam Unifilter, homemade, but Munich M/Cs sell them, so the water isnt the same problem it would be if with the OEM paper, but I have found that in a real downpour the electricks short out before the carburation goes off.

The road washed away too, so probably just as well--------.

Just to say that i drilled the 22mm diameter hole in the silencer baffle plate and then removed the snorkels. Well i was a little hesitant if truth be told as it would be impossible to fill that hole again as it is about 300mm from the end of the can. Anyway, fired her up and went for a spin. The result seems to be a very noticable positive engine response with a nice barking sound when cracking the throttle open. Thanks for your advise, it seems to have worked well. The only doubt i have is about water being driven into the air filter and airbox, is this likely to cause problems? or will it just escape through the rubber valve that is situated in the base of the airbox. Thanks once again, Stash.

Hi again you lot. Since i drilled the silencer and took off the snorkels i have been enjoying difference that this has made. But unless i am mistaken the bike seems to rev at a lower rate for given speed. What i mean by that is that prior to the changes i made when i was riding along at 100kph the bike would be revving at 4000rpm. Now it revs at about 3750rpm for the same 100kph. Is this what you would expect or am i imagining it. Either way, i like the exhaust note. Also, can anyone refer me to an air filter that will not go soggy when wet as i am sure the paper one will not last too long as soon as the rains come. Thanks, Stash.
