Is it just me or is the 1500 rpm tickover figure a bit high?![]()

]IF you set the tickover to 1500 you will heat the bollox off it in traffic of any kind!
You need to check your model of carb, There is a small ID number on part of the vertical alloy below the Vacuum chamber
From that you get the pilot screw setting? Set it! Then do the valve clearances take the bike for a 15 mile run to get it warmed well
When you come back in adjust the screws at the front inside until you get and idle of around 900 - 1000 rpm and then fine tune to balance them! on throttles screws and on cables
If it is stalling when cold?? THEY ALL DO THAT SIR!

Perhaps the best way forward would be to take the bike to someone who knows what they are doing , get it sorted and watch what's involved.
If you don't have a lot of experience in carb fiddling aim for 1000 rpm, easy to achieve and close enough. 1500 is too high, you might find that it is difficult to change gears smoothly if the revs are too high when you back off the throttle
........come to think of it being an airhead you might find it difficult to change gears smoothly regardless![]()
