Well that was a surprise I thought Id get about 200 miles before the fuel light came on .. it came on @ 165 miles !!! just as well I was near a petrol station ..put a tenner worth o petrol in and the bars were about 4 away from the top of the gauge ..??? how much is still in the tank when the light comes on ? and how far to really empty .. ta :) GS 1100 by the way :)

The activation of the fuel warning light is not a finite measurement of remaining fuel. On your bike - it is, what it is - not the same as the next man's.

1100s will usually have a range of 200 miles although I've stretched to 230 a few times. The fuel light can appear at any point after 170 ish miles...... Obviously speed , wind etc etc all play apart !

As you have included question marks I'm guessing you are asking a question. None of us were there so only you can answer that one.

If only you'd have dug just a little deeper in your wallet for another fiver and filled it up, you would then have know how much was left in there ;)

....and how far to really empty ..
I have had as much as 254 miles out of a tank on my old 1100, but that was with conservative riding.

:augie yeah I jus stuck a tenner in to get home ..havent done any miles on it since riding it home from my g/f 2 weeks ago..and I had filled it up before leaving..(it had half a tank full when I got the bike) and rode 100 miles home.. today was the 1st that I had taken it a run 65 miles round trip and on the way back light came on ..so new to me bike I headed for the petrol station didnt know how much was left in the tank and didnt fancy pushing it ...

I think I get around 30 ish miles after the fuel light comes on, about 200 on a tank, that's not riding conservatively though :green gri

30 miles after lights on is about right. Fill it to the brim and take a few litres in a pannier / top box. Bear in mind also tha id the filter has been changed, the float wire might have been bent or even installed at the wrong angle. Only a test run will tell.

I get around 20 litres in the tank when I fill with the fuel light coming on, so there would be around 4 to 5 litres left in tank when the fuel light appears, but as said earlier check your own as the float isn't that accurate. I always reset my trip to zero and fill tank full
:beerjug:

30 miles if you riding like an old lady on a long continuous road. 10 miles if your riding like a pot of strong coffee. Fuel light on, get fuel. I trust the sound of the fuel pump more than the light. If I can hear the pump modulating weirdly time to make possible alternative plans
