R1100 injectors upgrade

Interesting... The only gains would be at low speed as a result of the different spray pattern. I remember a similar mod years ago which involved fitting Rover 216 injectors to a Peugeot 205GTi. Undoubtedly better for normal use but slightly down at the top end.

Definitely not high on the list though. If your 1100 is running twin cables, has good t/b bushings, decent plugs, and one of John's chips, I suppose it might be the next step.
 
Someone on Advrider has done this with 1200 injectors and reported a significant improvement across the entire performance, but he did it as a first step before all the other usual stuff we all try :rolleyes:
 
I changed the injectors on my 1150, single spark, for 1200-injectors. Huge improvement in cold conditions. Bought them from Germany and all necessary parts were supplied. I had John's chip already installed when swapping the injectors: rough idle and hesitation in low temperature - but all is good now. Can only recommend an upgrade!
 
ferenc62 can you explain the changes needed to this mod due to you running John's chip? I have an 1100 and also using the chip (which im impressed with) and now looking at this injector upgrade. my kids dont need food anyway.

But if you choose between John chip or injectors witch upgrade to go for ?

Or even lennies sprockets which hugely improve the bottom end tourqe and slow speed running and a Johns chip designed to work with the sprockets to give more midrange and top end boost. Highly reccomended, makes my 1100 so much more fun.
 
If you buy well matched injectors you will notice a difference on any bike, any chip. However that's only if your present injectors aren't well matched. If they are already, luckily matched you won't see much difference.

(Since I'm writing I'll note that if you want an improvement, a lambda shift device (LC-2 or af-XIED) will benefit all chips, all injectors.)
 
Roger I have an aftermarket exhaust with de-cat and no place for an O2 sensor to go, I assume a lambda shift device would need such a connection? Currently have the correct beige jumper box and mix (slightly) altered via co-pot (R1100GS)
 
ah ok. i was given a chip for an 1150gs by rob on here but it's the wrong one for my 1100. i'll stick it up for someone else
 
I have just ordered a pair:beerjug: of injectors for my 1993 R1100RS, 25k miles, with Accelerator Module, will keep you posted !

I started with Dan Cata's kit (TB-kit) but was expecting more from the old engine. Continued with John's chip and noted further improvement. Was still not satisfied as the engine did not like cold conditions. Finally went for the 1200-injectors and I don't think there is more to expect of this engine. If I would have to choose between the chip and the injectors? Old driver in cold Sweden would replace the injectors first, or have them cleaned by a pro.

+1 on cleaning one's injectors first. It's the single most important cause of surging or engine roughness in a bike with an O2 sensor.

You should consider an Innovate LC-2 or Nightrider AF-XIED, oilheads really like the added fuel. Lambda shifting permanently richened the mixture, shifting it toward Best Power mixture and makes a great improvement in roll-on power from 2000 RPM on up.
