Well first time owning a GS, and we have problems already.

Purchased the bike a couple of weeks ago, drained 7 litres of discoloured fuel out of the tank. (Bike had not been on the road for over 2 years) So didn't run to well.

I've cleaned the throttle bodies and checked spray pattern from the injectors, checked valve clearance, checked the fuel flow and set up the tps, and the bike ran ok, so all happy.

So off to work bike has a little splutter just off idle but smooths out at 2500/3000rpm and the ride to work was uneventful, cut to coming home.

Filtered through about 3 miles of traffic and just as I get on the motorway the bike cuts out🤬 managed to start it but would not take any throttle ( checked all throttle cables to see if they where seated correctly). AA called and recovered home.

When I got home and off loaded the bike it started first time when cold any way I've removed the timing plate and all the wires are cracked and split. So it looks like I need a new timing plate, or is it easier to just rewire it.

There's a Greek guy on eBay that makes replacement hall effect trigger plates.
If you are good at soldering and wiring you can try remaking the loom, but use high temp wire.

If you go new, be aware there are 2 types of trigger plate. 1st flat connector all pins in 1 line, the other has 2 rows of pins

Yeh I've seen the two different types, I think I'm just going to buy new and probably fix this one as a spare.. cannot seam to upload pics ( bit of a techno phone ) and I don't want to miss out on this great riding weather
