My bike goes in for its 50000 km service in the morning. Does anyone know what the Yaerly service is for? Unfortunately I only have a German service booklet with the bike.

I am well capable of carrying out the work. I just thought that I would try and keep up the servicing as the last owner did. When I come to sell the bike (whenever) I will be back in UK and I thought if a person wants the bike FSH may go some way to upping the money removed by being, as it will an import.
It all depends on how much you save by doing your own servicing.
If you save 300 Euro per year by doing your own servicing and you do it say four times while you own the bike, you save 1200 Euros.
Will a FSH bike really be worth 1200 Euros more?

I have an R1100GS and perform the 6K services myself using a Haynes manual. Doddle to do, no more than an hour or so. You just need a service kit which includes all of the washers you need, plus an oli filter. Don't forget to pick up your engine oil at the same time.
Get a receipt from the dealer, keep it and fill in your service book yourself.
Get a dealer or whoever to do your 12K services if you wish.
The dealers don't seem to give a monkeys about the service book when you part ex anyway.

i whole heartedly agree with the replies - it is obvious that the dealer will inform you of enhanced resale values etc if the bike has a full service history as he has a business to run however in my opinion they will also be willing to deal whether the bike has history or not - some dealers are willing to perform the diagnostic checks etc and permit you to do the consumable part of the service i.e oil & filter change and still stamp your book - this goes some way in making a saving on the servicing whilst maintaining a dealer record both for resale and warranty purpose

Got the bike serviced on Thurs last week. It feels like adiffernet machine!! A very reasonable 136 euros for a 50,000 km service. You all have a ppint though 80 of the 136 were for labour, I want to be a B*M mechanic! Whilst I'm on the subject what is the best servicing manual for this bike? Is it Haynes, if so which one, I was on Amazon the other day it it said that the Haynes manual is not yet published?! Or should I use the B*W service manual, pages of which are floating around this site??

Haynes manual for the 1100 from HERE - HAYNES DIRECT @ 19.99 each.
I've taken my 1100 to 56k miles without a dealer service using a Haynes manual and the excellent advice from this site and ADV rider including a Zero = Zero.
You need a Clymer manual. Have used Haynes for years and it wasn't till I needed to get a bit more technical that I found there was a better alternative.
No pretty bike pictures and potted history and expensive at £28.50 + pap, but well worth it.

in all sorts of derivatives and can be found here:

I got my last one for a F6C direct from the States and is was cheaper than getting it here - you don't pay import on books.
