For the undecided, BIKE magazine has a review of an R1150GS this month. Of particular interest is the testers view that, when he first rode a GS he didn't get it and was happy to go back to his diet of Japanese sportsbikes. Now however, some 4 years later, he completely gets what it is about.

Although my opinion is a long way from being unbiased, I thought it was a pretty good article and showed the GS in an excellent light.

New KTM Adventure is reviewed as well, just to really make it worth buying!

Mark

only buy bike mags, when a few months old from the market at 50p each,As that's all there worth.
Never really got on with the 1150,Numpty OD gear
1100 gs was sOoo much better,Live n learn :rob

Very clever these journo's, they say bike "a" is best one month, = bike "a" owners think what a fine, subjective magazine, I must subscribe to it :)

Next month they say bike "b" is best one month, = bike "b" owners think what a fine, subjective magazine, I must subscribe to it :)

Next month they say bike "c" is best one month, = bike "c" owners think what a fine, subjective magazine, I must subscribe to it :)

I don't really buy magazines anymore, no real point when you have forums like this and ADVrider.

Nor me...... stacks more 'relevant' info and opinions on forums. After all thats what the journo's reviews are .. opinions. :)

for the cost of 2-3 mags' i can have a years worth of valid opinions:D

To be fair to Steve Rose (Bike's editor) he has always been an 1150 supporter and is on record as saying that it was the only loan bike he's ever tested for a year and then gone and bought one for himself :thumb

I enjoyed reading he article. I like having Bike magazine as I can take it to the loo to read whether at work, home or on holiday and I don't find it as pointless as MCN, Superbike et al.:thumb2

I thought the article was most welcome and I really enjoyed reading it too. Away from the need to compare the bike to anything else Mike Armitage could simply write about the journey as well as the bike's merits.

Good, thoughtful, stuff. :thumb2

I find it entertaining :thumb2 the only bits I don`t read is when they test the sports 600`s, again :blagblah :mmmm
Got conned into buying MCN last week though :blast

And if he'd been negative about the bike, would it have been "good, thoughtful stuff"? :D

Pleasingly cynical bunch aren't we!

You're right to be cynical. Was at my dealer's today. The salesman said that he has a lot of contact with BMW UK's Head of Marketing. Talking about he launch of the new K1300 in Southern Spain the BMW man said that Press Launches are a nightmare with most of the journos just wanting to go on the piss at BMW's expense. BMW ferry lots of bikes over and most of the journos take the bike out for a few miles, get the photographer to take a pic of them going round a bend, repair to the bar and then write a long article detailing their extensive test ride.

That would be standard human nature then.

Of course if a journo likes the 1150GS he/she is obviously an intelligent and discerning individual and absolutely not a luddite as the tech obsessed 1200 owners would have you believe!!!!!
