I really like those much more than the R1300GS.......shame I'm a short arse.

Me too, although no other new BMs have appealed to me for a while.
I think they have a good chunk of g/s heritage, a decent (tried and tested) engine, and perhaps the comfortable ergonomics of the highly rated V85TT.
That's a good combination, IMO.
I was so ready to get one, but am also a short arse.
At the end of the day, it's all about what you do with a bike and as I mainly do a couple of Euro trips a year with GS lads and the odd weekend bimble, I decided I would go with something more tur ready and that was a Stelvio. Alongside a 1300 GS, I was possibly wrong, but I know the 12GS wouldn't have seen much use.
Lovely bike nonetheless.

Have you tried the lower version?
I haven't tried one yet. I'm 5'9 and 31 inch inside leg. I currently ride a 2021 Honda Africa twin ATAS and an R1150GS with Ohlins shocks (which raise it about an inch). Being able to put only one foot down didn't bother me but I'm 64 now and not getting any stronger!! I'll have to see if I can get a run on one and see what it's like. BMW motoradd in Belfast didn't have a demo the last time I asked.
That’s exactly how I feel. Having ridden one recently I think it would be torture at 75 for long periods without major modifications to the front end.

The gold wheels do look good, lovely view too. Every time someone posts a picture of their G/S I want one even more, if I hadn’t bought my 1300 at the end of last year I would definitely get one.
I put a flyscreen with a similar 10cm extra height on my 690. The difference is amazing. It takes the pressure off the chest area but leaves clean air at head height.
Really hoping mine will arrive at the dealers next week or the week after...

Just got back from my 15 day 3000 mile Euro jaunt (France , Belgium , Netherlands ,Germany , Poland , Czechoslovakia , Austria ) and the R12 performed flawlessly . The Unit Garage luggage rack and plate worked well with my Wolfman soft luggage and I'm really impressed with the Mosko Moto tank bag . The R12 was fine sat on the motorway/A roads at 70-75MPH (we did 700 miles from Durham to Folkestone return) and was really at home on the European back roads at 50-80 KPH and even more so on gravel tracks . Over the 3000 miles it averaged out 58.1 MPG so the tank range whilst on non motorway was more like 170-180 miles . The average speed over the whole trip was only 39 MPH as in Europe we didn't use a single toll road or motorway and I did a bit dirt track . I was accompanied by a R1250GSA and a Moto Guzzi Stelvio and other than filling up a bit more the R12 did everything the other two bikes did equally as well . If you are wanting to cover huge miles in a day on toll roads and motorways then clearly the R12 is not suitable , but if you want to take a more relaxed pace and see the places you are riding through via the back roads it is ideal . I am really glad I got the bike , as well as performing well , it in my eyes is one of the best looking modern BMW's and certainly got lots more attention every time we stopped somewhere . Now time to clean it........

How did the weather protection fare at the front end and any spray onto your visor from front mudguard?
Did the front cover and oil cooler get the brunt of road detritus?
No real issues with weather protection , we got two half days of torrential rain and I was no worse off than the two other riders and got no noticeable spray from the front mudguard
The oil cooler looks fine ( I did fit an additional mesh guard to it) , the front cover is dirty bit didn't look that different to the condition of the GSA or the Stelvio . I'll post again once I have cleaned it and had a better look at it . Certainly the exhaust link pipe is absolutely covered :-(

As you know, sometimes in heavy rain ….a raised front mudguard on an enduro bike can throw road spray directly onto your visor and it’s a pain
Xchallenge was particularly bad until you fitted the Touratech extension
I remember vividly the Xchallenge throwing water/mud on my visor
