So, here we go.......
Recently purchased my R1200GS, 2005, which has run fine no problem. Parked it up in my garage and stripped it of all panels and sent them off for a respray. Whilst 'de-panelled' I touched up what corroded bits I could get at. Nothing disconnected. Took out the air filter to inspect and replaced it back in it's housing as it was in good condition. Removed the engine bars to prepare them for a respray, or powder coating. Panels returned. So I fitted them to see how it looked. Looks great! Took a few pics and decided to start her up and go for a quick spin. Pressed the starter button and ouch...... flat battery. Not to surprised as I had been turning ignition on and off to keep alarm 'off' while I moved it around in garage and left ignition on for a number of times. How do you disable the alarm!?
Recharged battery. Started up first press but ouch again! Very rough idle and spluttered when I pulled off. Returned after a few hundred yards wondering what's happened. Took out the plugs and they were pretty sooted up.
Left bike idling for a while as I thought the issue maybe because it had been parked up with a flat battery for around 3 weeks. Still rough idling and popping when revved (Beowolf can btw). Checked plugs and and they don't look good. New plugs ordered this evening from NN.
So the mystery is; when the bike was parked up it had been running very nicely. Stood in the garage for a number weeks and when finally started again it runs rough, ie misfire out of sync.
I'm a very basic diyer' so reaching out to you guys for advice............ cheers, Rob.
