Does anyone out there have any idea what sort of price an 06 low mileage (12600) gs in standard trim would fetch against a replacement (BMW) bike of £9000? I don't want to strip it back to standard form only to be offered sod-all and have to ride it around looking and sounding bland?
regards

In my experience, extras add very little to part ex prices and have been advised, by the dealer, to remove bling and sell it seperately if changing the type of bike eg 1150 to 1200.

IIWY I'd ask the dealer what the trade in prices will be with / without the bling, all we can do is guess at trade in prices :o

Book price is about £6200 I think, but no one is paying book price at the moment. Depnds how much they want to shift the new bike and how many 2nd hand 1200s they have sat in the showroom:thumb

what's it worth?

thanks for the responses, I've been riding round to our local dealers to get trade in prices. The price did vary upon how much I was going to spend. The dealers did suggest returning the bike to standard and selling the bits on ebay or our forum. Prob is a private buyer may want the bling and it looks better with it than without it.

When I was selling my R1100S a BM dealer said that they would take all the extras off and throw them away as they like to sell standard bikes. Didn't sell it to them in the end but still took the bits off and sold a standard bike privately.

:augie they would use their workshop manhours to take extra,s off and then throw them away! i think they are telling porkies.

I've bought 2 new bikes from SBW BMW in Hertford in the past, and on both occasions I had a clean bike to p/x. Both times, different salesmen, they said try and sell the bike privately first as they admitted their p/x offers take the p*ss (not in those words!).

If selling privately, one option is to price the bike as standard, and offer the buyer first refusal on the extras for some more cash. If he/she doesn't want them, then flog the extras on here and/or fleabay.

I took my 06 1200 with 37000 miles in to have a test ride on a new Adventure.( just for the hell of it)
They offered me £5000 against a new bike and £4400 against a used one.

Mine has been " used " though.:augie

I told them to poke it up there arse and get away from me before i rape their dead mouths!

They actually offered £6200 for the bike in standard condition, which I thought was crap. They then tried very hard to sell me the K1200 offering £6500 against the K1200 plus £500 towards the usual deposit (care of BMW).
Having seen the new K1300 (in MCN), due out next year, I may as well wait till the new model comes out and keep what I've got till then. I'll just have to keep tightening all the bolts that keep shaking loose and wait for the fuel pump relay to fail (due any time now - probably). Good old BMW quality eh!
