Can't add much that hasn't been said all ready, but I'll stick my tuppence worth in.
Only had test rides (couple of hours) on each of these. Not long, but my impressions were:
GS (A): Superb; I'd got to the traffic lights 100m from the dealers when I realised 'I want one!' Rest of the two hours were thoroughly enjoyed throwing around the Yorkshire Dales.
RT: Liked the toys; flicked the electric seat on and forgot about it. Half a mile later I was wondering why my arse was feeling so hot... Electric screen was great, but a bit noisy in all but the highest position, which also gave best protection. Cruise control would be useful as well on the occasions I do long motorway stretches. Chuckability: No probs on A and sweping roads. Then got back on to the one-and-a-half lane ort less Yorkshire Dales roads. Took a shallow humpty-back bridge, followed immediately by a sharpish left hander, at about 50mph, as would on my 1100GS. Mine handles this regularly in its stride. The RT's front end tried to rival my climbing ropes for tying itself in knots. Not at all impressed, I headed back to the A&B roads.
I must add that this was one of the earlier models, it didn't have the ESA. I got my 1100 because I like riding the smaller 'back lanes', at which it excells. The RT is a great 'open road' bike, so would be better for my August Bank Holiday day trips to Skye. But if I were in the position where I had to make the choice, the GSA, no contest.
